Session 01

Importance of Children’s Discipleship and Ministry

Participants begin with an activity where long-time and new volunteers share their motivations for serving in children's ministry. Through small group discussions and biblical exploration, they delve into scripture passages highlighting God's view on children and ministry to them, concluding with a reflection on the importance of volunteers in fulfilling the ministry's vision and God's commands in discipling children.

Session 02

A Teaching Pattern That Works

Participants engage in an interactive activity envisioning the qualities of an effective teacher before delving into the four-step lesson approach: Hook, Book, Look, Took. Through small group practice and discussion, volunteers explore their comfort levels with each step and conclude with a reflection on their unique gifts and how they contribute to teaching children the Word of God.

Teach So Every Child Can Learn

Participants engage in an interactive activity envisioning the qualities of an effective teacher before delving into the four-step lesson approach: Hook, Book, Look, Took. In this session, volunteers explore their own discipleship journeys through a creative activity before delving into the dynamics of leading discussions in children's ministry small groups. Through practice, discussion, and reflection, volunteers identify strategies to foster connections to God and each other, concluding with actionable steps to enhance their small group leadership skills.

Session 05

Classroom Management Like Jesus

This session equips volunteers with classroom management principles inspired by Jesus' approach to discipleship. Through an engaging activity exploring the 12 disciples and a review of key biblical passages, volunteers learn to set clear expectations, model faith, and nurture positive behavior in children. Practical discussions and collaborative planning empower volunteers to create effective strategies tailored to their ministry contexts, fostering a supportive and prayerful environment for children's growth and development.

Session 06

Spiritual Conversation with Children

This session focuses on facilitating spiritual conversations with children, beginning with personal faith journey sharing and structured discussions. Volunteers are equipped to engage children in meaningful dialogues about faith, utilizing strategies like the B,C, A approach and capitalizing on teachable moments. Through collaborative activities and prayer, volunteers are empowered to nurture children's faith development and support their spiritual growth within their ministry contexts.
