Host Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors!

Co-Host Today is a fun day because we’re learning how to say a special word. It’s short but important.

Host This word only has three letters. Let’s hold up three fingers and count them together. 1, 2, 3.

Co-Host Would you like to know the word? It’s, “Yes!”

Co-Host Let’s use our fingers to fingers to trace the letters on the screen.

Host But why are we saying, “Yes?” Are we saying, “Yes” to playing games? Are we saying, “Yes” to smiling?

Co-Host I hope we’re not saying, “Yes” to going to bed without eating yummy desert.

Host We wouldn’t like that at all. I think we are learning to say, “Yes” to something that is really good.

Co-Host I can’t wait to find out. Maybe Conductor Carl will have a clue for us. First let’s get ready for the Train Station with a big, “Choo-choo!”

Host I can’t believe that Conductor Carl is lost. I hope he finds someone that can lead him out of that forest.

Co-Host What sort of things do you find in the woods? (Allow for answers) Maybe a moose can lead him out of the forest. Let’s make moose antlers with our hands, like this.

Host I don’t think a moose would be a good leader. They can’t even talk. It’s important to listen to the right person. It reminds me of what we learned in the Big Point. Let’s practice it with our friend from the music store.

Host I Can Say Yes To Jesus!

Co-Host Jesus is a good leader. That reminds me of a game. Let’s play follow the leader.

Host I like that idea. Instead of walking around the room, I want everyone to stand up and follow the same movements that I do.

Co-Host Copy exactly what our friend does.

  • Play follow the leader with different motions. Make it fun and silly.

Host You can sit on your pockets. That was lots of fun. When we say, “Yes” to Jesus, we say, “Yes” to being His friend and follower. That means we do the things that Jesus wants us to do.

Co-Host Jesus is a good leader, and He will only lead us to good things. I can’t wait to hear some of the good things that Jesus leads us to.

  • Host and Co-Host enter.

Co-Host At least Conductor Carl seems to be enjoying his walk through the forest. He’s making a wise choice by using that walk to read His Bible.

Host Did you know that our Big Point comes from the Bible? It does. We learn them from God. Let’s practice our Big Point again,

Host I Can Say Yes To Jesus!

Co-Host Conductor Carl shared a great verse from the Bible that teaches us one of the good things that comes from following Jesus.

Co-Host 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIrV), “The old has gone! The new is here!”

Host Let’s have some fun making ourselves look new. I’m chose some friends to come up here and try on some different costumes.

  • Put different costumes and wigs on the kids. Have the kids in the audience make different faces to make themselves look new.

Co-Host That was fun. Hmm, do we look different when we follow Jesus and say, “Yes” to Him?

Host Jr. Conductors, what do you think? We do become brand new when we follow Jesus, but we don’t look different on the outside.

Co-Host You can take off those funny costumes. When we say, “Yes” to Jesus, He makes us brand new on the inside.

Host That’s how Jesus helps us make good choices. I’m so glad that we have a good leader like Jesus. Let’s stand up and sing a worship song to Him.

Jesus has been so good to us. He chose to love us even though we have made lots of wrong choices. This is a great time to tell Jesus, “Thank You.” Let’s bow our heads and close our eyes. Quietly, at your seat, tell Jesus, “Thank You” for making a way for us to be friends with God. I’ll pray for everyone. Dear God, thank You for loving us and for helping us to become God’s friends. I’m so glad that you make us new on the inside and help us to make wise choices. We love you Jesus! Amen.

  • Host and Co-Host enter.

Host I’m glad that Conductor Carl found his back to his campsite. I know he’s going to love going fishing.

Co-Host Have you ever been fishing with someone in your family? What do you use to catch fish? Do you use your hand? No. What do you use? (Pause) Right, you use a fishing rod and some bait. Sometimes your bait is a slimy, wiggly worm. Let’s wiggle in our seats. Look at this picture of fishing.

Host Let’s play a fun game with fishing. I’m going to choose some friends to try this game. They have to see how many fish they can pick up.

Co-Host While our friends play, we can join them by pretending to use our fishing rods too.

  • Play the fishing game multiple times if time permits.

You can purchase a magnet fishing game or create one with a small fishing rod with a magnet on the end. Cut out pictures of fish and place a paper clip on them for the magnet to attract.

Host That game gives me an idea about our Big Point.

Co-Host It does? How does fishing match our Big Point? Let’s remind ourselves of what it says.

Co-Host I Can Say Yes To Jesus!

Host Jesus told His friends that He was going to make them fishers of people.

Co-Host How do you catch people? We’re not fish.

Host That means Jesus wants us to share the good news from the Bible with other people. When we become Jesus’ friend, we can tell others all of the good things Jesus has done for us.

Co-Host That’s a great idea. Let’s practice by telling someone beside you, “Jesus is kind.”

Host I’m thankful that we get to be friends with someone like Jesus, and I’m glad that He loves us. Let’s say the Big Point together.

  • Play: Big Point Video Short

Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I’m so glad you said, “Yes!” to coming to church today. It’s fun to say, “Yes” to good things. If your mommy asks if you want a yummy treat after dinner, what do you say? Yes! When you are at church, and they ask if you want to sing fun songs, what do you say? Yes! Today we are going to find out the most important thing for us to say, “Yes” to. I can’t wait to find out. Maybe Conductor Carl will have a clue for us. Let’s get ready to find out at the Train Station by saying a big, “Choo-choo!” Everyone stand, and let’s worship Jesus!

Jr. Conductors, there are a bunch of different ways that we can say “Yes!” A thumbs up can mean “Yes!” Show me a thumbs up. When you nod your head, it means, “Yes.” Nod with me. I will show each small group some pictures, and I will point to one of the pictures on the screen. Your small group will decide if you would say, “Yes” or “No” to what I’m pointing to. If you would say, “Yes,” nod your head. If you would say, “No,” cross your arms like an X!

  • Show the different pictures and let the small groups vote either “Yes” or “No” depending on the item.

Let’s practice saying “Yes” in different languages. In Spanish, you say, “Si!” Can you say that? In German, you say, “Ja!” Practice that one with me! And finally, in French, you say, “Oui.” Let’s say that. Great job!

There are so many ways we can say, “Yes.” Let’s learn about the most important thing for us to say, “Yes” to today. Turn your listening ears on, and let’s find out what Conductor Carl is up to!

I can’t believe that Conductor Carl is lost. I wonder if he will find someone to lead him out of the forest. Maybe an animal could help him. Let’s all roar like a lion. Whoa! You scared me! Can you ribbit like a frog? Good job! How about you meow like a kitty cat? Do you think an animal would make a good leader? No, I don’t think so either. Animals can’t talk. It’s important to follow the right leader. It reminds me of the Big Point. Let’s say it all together,

I Can Say Yes To Jesus!

Jesus is the best leader! He won’t ever lead us on a wrong path or to something that will hurt us. Following Him leads to good things. In your small group you get to play Simon Says. In this game be sure to follow what your small group leader says, but only when they say, “Simon Says!” Let’s all turn around and play.

  • Lead the kids in playing Simon Says.

That was so fun! You guys did a good job following your leaders. Let’s check back in with Conductor Carl and see how he is doing in the forest.

At least Conductor Carl seems to be enjoying his walk through the forest. He is learning to say “Yes” to the right things. That reminds me of our Big Point. Let’s sing it again,

I Can Say Yes To Jesus!

Conductor Carl is making a wise choice to use his walk to read His Bible. He even found our Big Verse while he was walking!

It says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIrV) “The old has gone! The new is here!”

I like new things. If you get new shoes, do you like to put them on as soon as you get home? Then do you run all around to see if your shoes make you run faster? Let’s stand up and run in place really fast together! (Run in place) That was fun! You are going to have some more fun by making yourself look new in your small group. Turn around and see what your leader has for you.

Small Group Leader
  • Pass the glasses out to the kids and let them play with them for a few minutes. You can purchase the glasses in bulk online. These are the glasses with the added nose and mustache. You can substitute for a different item if needed.

When we put these glasses on, we look new on the outside. But are we a different person under these glasses? No, we’re the same person. When we say, “Yes” to Jesus, He makes us new on the inside. When we follow Him, we don’t look different on the outside, like we do when we wear these silly glasses. We are different on the inside. Jesus helps us make good choices, love others, and be more like Him.

Leader

You all look great in your new glasses. I’m thankful we can become new on the inside. It’s time to hear a true story from the Bible about how Jesus makes us new. Put on your glasses and turn your listening ears on!

I Can Say Yes To Jesus!

Conductor Carl gave us a great Big Do. This week, ask someone in your family to tell you about when they said, "Yes!" to Jesus. Then bring your Big Do card back next week so you can get a fun prize. Let’s say our Big Point one more time,
