Lesson

Discussion: 1.) Before you began this lesson, how would you have defined the word gospel? What have you been taught about what the word means? 2.) This series begins by asking, “What is the gospel?” The answer to this question starts with unpacking what the word means in its English and Greek roots. Was there anything you learned in this section? How does this linguistic lesson affect how you understand what Jesus has done for us? 3.) This session states that the gospel has three essential parts: sin, repentance, and salvation. As a group, spend some time defining each of those terms in your own words. 4.) Do you agree or disagree with these three words being essential to the gospel? Is there anything that you would add or take away? 5.) The gospel will be unpacked by examining four different gospel paths, or “faces.” How do you feel about this idea? Is there anything about this method of understanding that makes you feel uncomfortable? 6.) PRAY: Spend some time together praying for someone in your life who needs to hear the gospel. Ask that God would give you an opportunity to use what you will learn in this series.
