Healthy Overseers/Elders 1 Timothy 3:1-7

1 Timothy 3:1-7, outlines the qualities of a mature and authentic church leader. Overseers, also known as elders, are portrayed not through a checklist but as a character portrait, emphasizing being "above reproach." They are responsible for discipleship, doctrine, defense, discipline, and direction within the church. Key traits include being a "one-woman man," sober-minded, self-controlled, gentle, hospitable, able to teach, and managing their family well. Dalrymple underscores the importance of these leaders having a solid reputation both inside and outside the church.
