God has a busy schedule. Cre- ate planets in the morning, monitor the lives of 7 billion people during the day, cause the stars to twinkle at night, and much more. But, his schedule is NEVER too full to stop everything to help one of His children in need.

Many people believe that God is too busy with “more important things” than to come to their rescue when they need Him.

In today’s lesson, we will learn about how when Jesus was on his way to heal Jairus’ daughter, he stopped everything to help a woman in need. NO matter how busy God is, He will always be there for us when we need Him.

**Leader**: I can’t wait to bust today’s myth with you... (all of a sudden “The Hamster Dance” song begins playing. Wacky Wally comes out dancing and acting crazy. He has a tennis racket and is swinging it around all over the place. Music fades.)

**Leader**: Wally! What are you doing?!

**Wally**: Don’t “Wally what are you doing” me!! Who are you?!”

**Leader**: Wally, it’s me! I’m your friend! Put down the tennis racket!

**Wally**: Prove that it’s you!

**Leader**: Well...LOOK at me. Don’t I look like myself?

**Wally**: Oh, so you do! My bad. I’m sorry! I’m on the run and I’m scared out of my mind!

**Leader**: What are you running from?

**Wally**: (whispers) My arch-nematode!

**Leader**: You mean arch-nemesis?

**Wally**: That’s what I said!! My arch-nimrod!

**Leader**: Whatever, Wally, here at church you shouldn’t have any enemies! Who could you POSSIBLY be so afraid of??

**Wally**: Her name is…Nikki!

**Leader**: Her name? Wally, you’re afraid of a GIRL?!

**Wally**: Don’t you laugh at me! She’s insane! She’s been after me ever since I took a bite out of her sandwich in second grade! She’s a big meanie and specializes in sneaking up on people, so I’m constantly trying to keep her off my trail!!

**Leader**: How are you keeping her off your trail?

**Wally**: When I’m out walking, I hop on one foot and go backwards. That way, if she’s following my trail, she thinks I only have one leg and I’m going in the other direction!

**Leader**: Wally, that’s silly!

**Wally**: It won’t be silly if she catches me and gives me the Noogie of No-Return!

**Leader**: Wally, instead of constantly running around when you’re in trouble, how about you just ask for God’s help?

**Wally**: I can’t ask for God’s help! He’s too busy doin’ God stuff!

**Leader**: God stuff?

**Wally**: Yeah, God stuff! Y’know, He’s out making rainbows and making ducks quack and tellin’ the fish how to go like this (makes a fish face) and all kinds of stuff!

**Leader**: Wally, it’s true that God does all kinds of stuff all over the world, but He’s never too busy for you!

**Wally**: He’s the creator of the Universe, why would He wanna bother helping little ol’ me?

**Leader**: Because He loves you, Wally! Also, He’s so amazingly powerful, He can help out our lives AND do all that other stuff He has to do without even breaking a sweat!

**Wally**: I don’t get it! I don’t think God wants to help me at all! He’s just way too busy!

**Leader**: I tell you what. Why don’t you watch today’s Power Verse video, and I think you'll think differently afterward. Ok?



**Wally**: Wow! So, even though God has an entire UNIVERSE to run, He still takes time out to help me?

**Leader**: That’s right, and anybody else that needs His help.

**Wally**: Oh good! I’m gonna go pray and see if He can help me with my Nikki problem! Maybe now she’ll stop putting potatos up my nose while I’m asleep! I’ll see you later kids!! (exits while his theme music plays)

Illustrated Message - Game: Give A little

Choose two players to compete.
One player stands on one side of the room
by a bucket filled with the small-medium sized items. The other player stands on the other
side of the room by an empty bucket. Place the third bucket (empty) in the middle of the room/
playing area.
One player’s goal is to GIVE as many of the items as possible from their bucket to the middle
(empty) bucket. The other player’s goal is to TAKE as many items away from the middle
bucket as possible and place them into their bucket.
The players will have to make strategic decisions on how many items at a time to GIVE or
TAKE. They are not allowed to pick up the buckets themselves and dump the items. All items
must be carried.
When you say, “GO!” the music begins and the first player gathers as many items as possible
to run and GIVE to the middle bucket. The “taker” is not allowed to leave their starting position
until the “giver” has deposited the first batch of items into the middle bucket.
Choose one of the 60 second timed versions of the Game Music found on the Music CD. At
the end of the 60 seconds, count how many items are in the middle bucket. Then, have the
players switch positions and play the game all over again.
Whichever team has the most items left in the bucket after their 60 seconds WINS!

Power Verse Review

Familiarize yourself with the story of Jairus’ daughter and the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:21-42.


I have a busy life. Sometimes I have so many things to do in a day that I have a hard time remembering everything and keeping it straight. So, in order to help me remember all the things I have to do I keep a “To Do” list. (pull out your “To Do” list and read off some of the items listed) I’m pretty busy.

If my “To Do” list looks like this, what do you think God’s “To Do” list looks like? (pull out the eternally long “To Do” list; read some of the things that might be on God’s “To Do” list) God is so busy! But, we are going to learn in our Bible Lesson today that God is never too busy to help those in need. Even when He is in the middle of helping someone else in their need, He is still able to help you in your need.

We find our story in Mark 5 starting with verse 21. Jesus has been teaching to a very large crowd when a local Jewish leader named Jairus shows up. He runs up to Jesus and falls at his feet and begins to plead with him, “Jesus! My little daughter is dying. Please come and lay your hands on her. Heal her so she can live.”

Can you believe this guy? Jesus is an important person. He’s teaching a large crowd of people about God. He has many things He has to do. Doesn’t this Jairus guy know that? How dare he ask Jesus to leave all these people just to come heal ONE little girl. But, Jesus did just that. He began to walk away from the crowd and follow Jairus to his house in order to heal his little girl.

The crowd of people began to follow him. In that crowd, there was a woman who had a disease that made her bleed non-stop. She had suffered from this disease for twelve long years. Can you imagine bleeding non-stop for twelve years? She could barely get through the crowd, but she made it up to Jesus. She reached out and touched a piece of his robe.

Right then, Jesus stopped. Everyone, including his disciples wondered what Jesus was doing. Why was he stopping? Didn’t He know there was a dying little girl that needed His help? If He waits too long she might die. But, Jesus had felt the touch of the sick bleeding woman. He stopped and said, “Who touched me?” The disciples said, “Um, Lord, there are many people around. Of course someone touched you.” Jesus said, “No, someone touched me who needed healing.” He looked around until His eyes met the woman with the disease of bleeding. She fell at his feet and said, “Lord, it was me who touched you. I felt if I could just touch your robe, then I would be healed.”

Jesus looked at her and said, “Woman, your faith has made you whole. Go, and be healed. Your suffering is over.” WOW! Jesus had time to stop and heal this woman even when there was a dying girl waiting for him. God is definitely NOT too busy to help us when we need Him!

While Jesus was still talking to the woman, several of Jairus’ servants ran up. They said, “It’s too late. Your daughter is dead.” Jairus began to weep. He felt it was just too late for his daughter. But, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.” And, with that Jesus continued on to Jairus’ house.

When Jesus arrived there were dozens of people gathered around the bed of the little girl. They were crying and wailing. Jesus asked them, “Why all of this sadness? The little girl isn’t dead. She is just asleep.” The crowd laughed at Him. They thought He was crazy. But, Jesus told them all to leave the room. He walked over to the little girl and said, “Little girl, get up!” Immediately, the little girl opened her eyes and sat up. She was no longer dead, but alive!!!

Illustrated Message - 01 Don’t Let Anything Keep You From Jesus

Jairus did whatever he had to do to go to Jesus and get Him to come to his house to heal his daughter. The woman with the bleeding disease pressed through the crowd so that she could get to Jesus to be healed. You and I cannot let anything keep us from the one who can help us—Jesus! Don’t let your fears keep you from Jesus. Don’t let your doubt keep you from Jesus! Don’t let your worry about what your friends will say keep you from Jesus! Don’t let anything keep you from Jesus!

Illustrated Message - 02 Jesus Will Always Have Time For You

Jesus stopped his busy teaching schedule to go heal Jairus’ daughter. He stopped his visit to heal Jairus’ daughter to help the woman with the bleeding disease. Jesus will always have time for you. He’s never too busy to help someone in need. Just call out to Him, and He will be there for you. Jesus will always have time for you.

Illustrated Message - 03 One Touch From Jesus Changes Everything

In both the case of the woman with the bleeding disease and Jairus’ daughter—one touch from Jesus changed everything. One touch from Jesus made the woman stop bleeding. One touch from Jesus made Jairus’ daughter alive instead of dead. One touch from Jesus can change it all for you.

Jesus wants to help you. God is not too busy to help you. Call on Him. He will hear you and help you. Don’t let anything keep you from Him. All it takes is one touch from Him and your problem can be gone!! Isn’t God amazing?

(play soft music) Pray with those who need help from God today. Remind them that God has time for them today. Tell them not to let anything keep them from calling on Him for help. One touch from Jesus will change everything for them today.
