Lesson in a Word - PRAISE

Countdown

The countdown video is a great way to cue the kids so they know it is about time for the program to begin. During the 5 minute countdown video direct the kids to wrap up their activities, get a drink of water, restroom break, etc... Direct the kids to be in a seat and ready to begin as the video ends.

Welcome

The program begins with a welcome from the MC. This is the moment to greet and give any special directions regarding the large group program.

Kid Connect

Kid Connect is a fun activity that is designed to encourage participation, interaction, and also begins to frame the lesson topic. Direct the kids to turn to a person and ask that person their name and the Kid Connect question. Allow a few moments and then invite 3 kids to the front.

Interview each kid by asking them these questions:

  • What is your name?
  • Who did you connect with?
  • What was their answer to the kid connect question?

Dismiss the kids and then ask for a show of hands to respond to the two answers for the kid connect question.

Would you rather watch a tornado or an earthquake?

Word for the Day

This is a quick guessing game that introduces the word for the day.

Its time for today’s word.

What is the word for today?

Do you know?

Well, let’s get started. “I have some clues. As you see each clue do not shout out your answer. Instead hold up your hand and I will call on you and we will see if you can guess the word for today.

Continue showing the slides and responding to the guesses. Do not reveal the correct answer until you have viewed all of the slides and given time for many kids to respond.

Reveal the correct answer by showing the slide. Take a moment and discuss the meaning of the word for the day.

What would you do

Continue the interaction and discussion by asking the What would you do question. Direct the kids to respond by raising their hands and waiting to be called upon. Take a few moments to listen to several kids give responses. The purpose of this activity is not so much about getting a “correct answer” or responding with a solution. The purpose is to stir the kids to think about relative situations connected to the word of the day. Wrap up this time and move into worship.

Let’s Praise

This is a time of corporate worship through singing and music. Plug in your own worship band—add some kids up on stage leading the other kids and have a great time singing to God before the teaching video begins. We suggest 3 songs that are lively and kid friendly. Between each song direct the kids to stand and do the “Shout Out”. Add motions and make it fun. This is the theme verse for the curriculum series.

Teaching Video

This is the cornerstone of the lesson. Set an example for the kids by watching and participating along with video as it plays.

Total Recall

This is a time for the leader or pastor to apply the lesson in a relative talk. We have provided discussions questions to build the talk around. Add to or delete as needed and create a talk from your heart to your kids connecting the message of the day. Conclude by leading the kids in prayer.

Use this time to inform your kids about upcoming events and activities. This is a good time to pump up and promote involvement.

Offering

Select kids to help serve the offering. We recommend that you use this time each week to remind kids what the offering is for and how the money will help the mission of Jesus. It’s also a good idea to play music during the offering collection.

Closing Praise Song

This should be a fun uptempo song of praise. You may choose to end with the same song each week. You may also end with the Road Warrior Theme Song.
