Engineer Kelly wants to get wisdom, but she's not sure where to find it. Thankfully, her friends are here to help her find it in the Bible.

**Host** and **Co-Host** enter. The **Co-Host** is dressed as an explorer, in a safari style or Indiana Jones costume.


**Host** Welcome to the train station, Jr. Conductors! It's so much fun to have our friends visit.


**Co-Host** searches around the stage as the **Host** talks.


**Host**
Jr. Conductors, what is (**Co-Host**) doing? (Pause) It seems like he/she is searching for something.

**Co-Host**
I am. Today I’m pretending to be an explorer because I want to find something that’s very important.

**Host**
Maybe we can help you.


**Co-Host**
Let’s play a game called “I Spy.” You spy something, and the Jr. Conductors 
and I will try to guess what you found. Maybe we’ll discover the important thing right here in the Train Station.


Play “I Spy” with items you find in the room. Give the kids clues. The **Co-Host** helps the kids use the clues to guess the items. Choose as many as time allows.



**Host**
You did a great job guessing what I spied.

**Co-Host**
Except we didn’t find what I was looking for in the Train Station. (Looks around) I’m trying to find…

(Whispers in the **Host**’s ear.)

**Host**
Oh boy! You came to right place because we’re going to learn where you can find it. I know the Jr. Conductors will be a big help. Can you say, “Choo-choo” with lots of energy?

**Host**
Engineer Kelly is ready to search for wisdom.

**Co-Host**
That’s what I’m searching for, too. I want to find wisdom. I wonder if I accidentally stepped on it while I was searching. Let’s check under our shoes to see if it’s there. 

(**Co-Host** looks at the bottoms of his/her shoes and nearly loses his/her balance.)

**Host**
You can’t find wisdom on the bottom of your shoe. It’s something that God gives us. Let’s practice our Big Point again.


**Co-Host**
What does wisdom look like? Does wisdom look like this?



**Host**
Jr. Conductors, that is a picture of something we find inside our bodies. Do you know what it is? (Pause) It’s our brain. Where do we find our brain? (Pause) That’s right. Point to your head.

**Co-Host**
My brain tells my body how to move. Move your arms up and down, Jr. Conductors. (Move your arms) Your brain told your arms to move.

**Host**
We use our brains to make choices, but God is the one who teaches us which choices are wise. That’s why I’m glad that we can read the Bible. Let’s stand up and pretend to do some different actions. You decide if what we’re pretending to do is wise or unwise.


Have the kids pretend to act it out and then shout if it’s wise or unwise. You can add movements like holding a thumbs up or thumbs down. You can add or change the scenarios as needed for your group.

 - Crossing a busy street without looking
 - Not touching something hot
 - Listening to your parents/teachers
 - Staying up all night long
 - Reading the Bible with your family
 - Eating candy before dinner
 - Going to church

The Jr. Conductors did a good job of deciding what was wise.


**Host**
God wants us to have wisdom so we can say, “Yes!” to wise choices and say, 
“No” to harmful choices. God wants us to have wisdom. Let’s see if Engineer Kelly learns where she can find wisdom.


Engage 1

**Host**
Mailman Max helped Engineer Kelly learn where to find wisdom. Now she knows how to follow the Big Point. Let’s practice singing the Big Point again, 


**Get Wisdom!**

**Co-Host**
Mailman Max shared a verse with her from the Bible that was very interesting. I explored the Bible and found it right where he said it was. 


**Co-Host**
Proverbs 9:10 (NIrV) says, “If you want to become wise, you must begin by respecting the Lord.”


**Host**
Jr. Conductors, have you ever heard the word “respect” before? Is it respectful when you listen and obey or when you ignore someone?

**Co-Host**
You’re right; it’s respectful when you listen and obey. Is it respectful when you call someone a name or when speak to them politely? (Pause) Right again. 

**Host**
Is it respectful to ignore someone or talk to them? 

**Co-Host**
If we want to be wise people, we should show God lots of respect. But what if God doesn’t want to give us wisdom?


**Host**
The Bible says in James 1:5 that if we ask God for wisdom, He will give it to us. 
God is kind and loving. He gives good gifts. Let’s play a game to remind ourselves that God likes to give. I’m going to pass a gift to a Jr. Conductor. I want you to pass this gift to the friend next to you as fast as you can. Let’s see if we can pass the gift to everyone quickly.



Play the game, allowing the kids to pass the present. Consider playing some music in the background for fun.


**Co-Host**
The Jr. Conductors shared that gift so quickly. Do you think that God will wait a long time to give us wisdom, or can He help us make wise choices now?

**Host**
God wants to help you become wiser each day, and He can help you make wise choices starting right now. The important thing is to respect God. That is a wise choice and shows you are ready for His good gift. Let’s stand and worship God to thank Him for always being good.

Let’s bow our heads and close our eyes. We can ask God for wisdom just like King Solomon asked God for wisdom. Take just a moment to pray quietly at your seat. Ask God to give you wisdom and help you make wise choices. (Pause) Now I will pray for all of us. Dear God, thank You for giving us wisdom and helping us to make wise choices every day. Amen.

I’m so glad that Engineer Kelly learned how to follow our Big Point. She’ll be able to share God’s truth with the kids at school. Let’s practice our Big Point again,

**Get Wisdom!**


**Co-Host**
I liked hearing Solomon’s story. He could have asked for anything, but he wanted wisdom. Wisdom must be really valuable.

**Host**
It is. The Bible says it’s more valuable than money.

**Co-Host**
That is a good gift. We can ask for it when we do the Big Do with our family. Conductor Carl gave us a great idea. 

**Co-Host**
 Everyone in your family can take turns asking God for wisdom. Do you believe that God will give wisdom to you? I do, too!

**Host**
Wisdom is important because it helps us make the right choices. We’ll play a game to show you what I mean. Let’s choose some friends to help us build a tall tower.




Play a building game using any building toys such as: Lego blocks, Magna-tiles, Cardboard Bricks, 1’x1’ Cardboard boxes.



**Co-Host**
That’s a really tall tower. Use your hands, Jr. Conductors, to show us how tall it is. Let’s build another one, and this time, let’s make the bottom as skinny as possible.



Build a tower with a base so narrow that it falls over quickly.


**Host**
Why did that tower fall down, but the other one stand tall? (Pause) The bottom 
wasn’t strong enough to hold it up. Wisdom is something God gives us to make us strong. 

**Co-Host**
The more wisdom you have, the stronger you are. Thanks, Jr. Conductors! You helped me explore and find wisdom.

**Host**
They did a great job. Let’s say our Big Point once more. 


Engage 3

- Hmm, did our Big Point say, Forget Wisdom or **Get Wisdom?**

 - Let’s pretend to search for things around the Train Station. Use your hands to make binoculars. I’ll give you clues and see if you can spot it. (Give clues about different things in the lab) Who was searching for something at the Train Station today? **Engineer Kelly** What was she trying to find? **Wisdom** 

 - Let’s pretend that we are really sleepy. Show me what your face looks like when you’re tired. Yawn big. Stretch your arms out wide. Pretend to snore. What was the name of the king who slept in our Big Story? **Solomon** Who spoke to Solomon in his dream? **God**

 - Pretend to wrap a present for a friend. What color paper will you use? Are there balloons on the paper? Pretend to give that gift to a friend nearby. What did Solomon ask God to give him? **Wisdom** Did God give Solomon wisdom? **Yes**

 - Let’s pretend to touch something sharp. Ow! Was that wise? **No**. Let’s pretend to read our Bible. Is that wise? **Yes** Who teaches us how to be wise? **God** 


 - If you ask someone for something, what is the magic word you should use to show you are respectful? **Please** If someone gives you something what two words show you are respectful? **Thank You** What does our Big Verse say? Proverbs 9:10 (NIrV), “If you want to become ____, you must begin by respecting the Lord.”

Begin by splitting the kids into the desired number of small groups. Small Group Leaders take a few moments to welcome your group. 


Small Group Split

Icebreaker Segment Prep: You need a gift box for each small group and one set of foam letters spelling WISDOM. Put a foam letter in each gift box.  If you have less than 6 groups, you can put more than one letter in each box.


Engage 2 Prep: You need 1 gift box or bag  per small group. Put enough crown stickers in each group gift box for each child to get one.


Optional songs include:
Soft instrumental music for Big Story Small Group time.

Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I am so glad you came by for a visit. I heard Engineer Kelly at the Train Station is looking for something today. Do you think your small group can help her find it? Oh, good! Everyone, turn to your group and give each other a high five. The first thing we need to do is go to the Train Station. To get there, I need everyone to say, “Choo-choo” with lots of energy. When I call your group’s name, shout, “Choo-choo!” (Call each group name and have them say “Choo-choo!”) Let’s stand up and worship Jesus!


Do you like to get presents? Me, too! Some gifts are really good, but others are not so good. If someone wanted to give you a bunch of stinky socks, would that be a good gift? No! Hold your nose and say, “P-yew!” But what about a gift of yummy cookies? Pretend to eat a bunch of cookies, “Nom-nom-nom-nom!” 


Bring out the prepared wrapped gift boxes. 



I have a gift for each of our small groups. I will give it to your small group leader, and everyone can help open it. 



Small group leaders help their team open their box. Try to let every kid have a turn to take some wrapping paper off. When they are done, choose one kid to take the letter up on stage. 


Each group got different letters. These letters spell a word. Let’s put everyone in order and find out what word it spells. Arrange the kids so they spell wisdom. Let’s say the letters together “W-I-S-D-O-M”. That spells “wisdom.” (Take the letters back from the kids and dismiss them back to their groups) I wonder if wisdom is part of what Engineer Kelly is looking for today. Everyone, turn your listening ears on and pay close attention to the Big Point so you can help. 



Icebreaker

Engineer Kelly figured out what she was looking for. Do you remember what it is? Wisdom! Can you find wisdom behind a tree? Everyone, stand up and stretch your arms out like a tree. Can you find it in the mouth of a fish? Let’s make a fish face. Can you find it on top of the tallest tower in the world? Jump up as high as you can. You can have a seat on your pockets. You can’t find wisdom in any of these places. God is the One who gives us wisdom. Let’s practice our Big Point again. 


**Get Wisdom!**

When we need wisdom, we can go to God to get it. He helps us know what is wise through the Bible, through His Holy Spirit inside of us, and the people around us. In your small group, you will have the opportunity to practice making a wise decision. Everyone put a bubble in your mouth and turn to your small group leader! 




Use the Engage 1 Activity Sheet to help guide the kids in a conversation about wise choices. Read the situation and then help them come up with the effects of the choice. Discuss if the person made a wise or unwise choice and how you know. 


 - Situation: It is raining outside, and Emily decides to use an umbrella. 
     - Effect: Emily stays dry. It was wise to use an umbrella.

 - Situation: Bianca’s brother takes her teddy bear, so Bianca decides to hit him. 
     - Effect: Bianca’s brother is sad, and Bianca must go to timeout. Hitting her brother was unwise. 

 - Situation: Patrick's mom tells him it's time to stop playing video games and go to bed. Patrick doesn't obey. 
     - Effect: Patrick gets in trouble and can't play video games anymore. He is also tired for school the next day. It was unwise for Patrick to disobey and keep playing video games.

 - Situation: Carlos sees a girl having a hard time with her books and offers to help. 
     - Effect: Carlos makes a new friend. It was wise for Carlos to help someone.


Raise your hand if your small group worked together to figure out what was wise 
and unwise. I am so thankful that God gives us wisdom every time we ask for it! God has a wise answer for every question we have. It’s time for us to see if Engineer Kelly has learned the Big Point as well as you have. I think some truth from the Bible will help her understand. Everyone, turn your eyes to the screen, and let’s watch!

Proverbs 9:10 (NIrV) says, “If you want to become wise, you must begin by respecting the Lord.”

We respect God by remembering how good He is. He has done many good things for us, and He never holds back anything good. He wants us to have the very best! One of the best things is wisdom. If we ask God for wisdom, He promises to give it to us. Let’s take turns asking for good things in our small group. You are going to pass a gift from person to person by asking each other for it. Once the gift has gone to each person, your small group leader will open it and give you what is inside of it. Turn to your leader now!




Have the kids ask one another for the gift respectfully. For example, “Can I have this gift, please?” After everyone has gotten a turn to ask for the gift, pass out the stickers inside to each kid. 



Everyone, show me your sticker! Your stickers look like the crowns that a king 
or queen would wear. Turn on your listening ears, and we are going to hear a true story about a king from the Bible right now! 



(Consider playing soft music)
We can ask God for wisdom just like King Solomon. Everyone, take a minute right now to talk to God and ask Him to help you make wise choices. Now I will pray for everyone. (Pray) 



Engineer Kelly learned where to find wisdom and she got to share it with all the 
kids at the school. It is so good to tell others about the true things we learn about God. Let’s say our Big Point again,



The Big Do this week is something you get to do with your whole family! Have everyone in your family share how they need wisdom, then you can pray and ask God for wisdom together. I know you will find lots of wisdom this week as you follow the Big Point.
