I Can Worship God In Truth

Series Note
Each Summer to the Max lesson incorporates a special venue into the service. Adding a venue allows the summer schedule to change while keeping the focus on Biblical truth. Venues can be done during the first 30 minutes of service or final 30 minutes of service. If you are also utilizing Summer to the Max Elementary lessons, consider keeping one venue at the beginning and one at the end. That will keep costs down by allowing both groups to enjoy the same venue. Each lesson offers multiple venue options at different price points to accommodate your budget. Promoting the venues ahead of time will build excitement for Summer to the Max!
Venue Ideas:
Lesson 6 (Kung Fu Panda): Choose one of the following venue options or create your own.
Ninja Warrior: Rent, purchase, or create Ninja Warrior stations for the kids to showcase their ninja skills.
Martial Arts Demonstration: Contact a local martial arts gym to see if they can do a martial arts demonstration for the kids.
Firefighters and Police: Connect with your local firefighters and police to bring a firetruck and police car to visit the kids. Allow the kids to tour the vehicles and experience it up close.

Welcome to Summer To The Max at the Movies! This week is Kung Fu Panda week. Everyone, shout, “Hiyah!” and chop.
Co-host copies everything the Host says and does.
Host
(Co-host), what are you doing?
Co-host
Why did you call me that? I’m (Host).
Host
That’s my name.
Co-host
It’s my name. Look, I’m dressed like (Host).
Host
You’re dressed like me! Can you move like this?
Host makes different karate moves that the Co-host copies.
Co-host
Of course, I can do that because I’m (Host). Boys and girls, stand up and copy the real (Host).
Host and Co-host do different karate moves.
Host
If they’re copying (Host), then they should copy me.
Host and Co-host do more movements.
Co-host
Wait a second. Why aren’t you copying me?
Host
Because they can see it’s me. Boys and girls, which one is the real (Host)? (Pause) That’s right, I am the real me.
Co-host
(Laughs) I know I’m not you. I was playing a joke to help us learn today’s Big Point. It’s all about knowing the difference between what is true and not true. I’m not you. I’m the real me.
Host
(Laughs) Oh my, I thought you were being serious. Let’s sing today’s Big Point together and find out what God wants to add to our lives. Put your hand next to your ear.
I Can Worship God In Truth!
Co-host
That means that we only worship the real God. We should not worship anything or anyone else.
Host
It’s not helpful to us at all to worship something fake. The God we see in the Bible is the only true God. This summer we are adding good things to our lives. We shouldn’t put anything inside of us that is opposite of God.
Co-host
I’m glad that these kids can see what is true.
Movie Moment
There is a scene in the movie Kung Fu Panda where Master Shifu trains Po using dumplings as motivation. Po starts clumsy, but his skills improve quickly when food is on the line. It’s a fun and clever training montage that shows how far he’s come. If your church has the proper licensing you may choose to show this clip. If you cannot show the clip, simply summarize the moment or describe it to the kids.

Po had to learn Kung Fu so he could save his friends. Along the way he learned true things about himself. Learning true things helped him become the best Kung Fu master.
Host
When we learn true things about Jesus, it helps us, too. That’s because we know who Jesus really is and what Jesus can do. We can be sure we’re only worshipping the real God. Let’s sing our Big Point again,
Host
I Can Worship God In Truth!
Co-host
Let’s see what the Bible says about worshipping God with our Big Verse.
Co-host
John 4:24 (NIrV), “God is spirit. His worshipers must worship Him in the Spirit and in truth.”
Host
God is spirit. That means that we can’t see God, but we can see the things that God does. It’s kind of like air. Can you see the air? Look around. Do you see the air?
Co-host
No, you can’t see the air. It’s invisible. But let’s see what air can do when we use this air cannon.
Place the foam cup on the Co-host or Host’s head (or use a volunteer) and knock it off with just the air from the air cannon.
Host
You couldn’t see the air, but it was powerful enough to knock off the cup. Let’s use some fog to help us see the air moving.
Use dry ice or a fog machine to fill the inside of the Airzooka with smoke, allowing you to shoot a smoke ring from the cannon.
Co-host
We could see the smoke. We may not be able to see God, but we can see the powerful things God does. When we worship God, we can worship Him anywhere because God is with us wherever we go.
Host
Jesus said that we also worship God in truth. That means we only worship the one true God, and that we don’t believe untrue things about God. We only worship God for what we learn about Him in the Bible.
Co-host
Let’s see what happened when Peter met someone who believed untrue things about God.
Host
I’m glad that Peter didn’t let Simon keep believing things that were untrue about God. Peter didn’t want Simon to teach others things about God that weren’t true. Peter stopped him. Let’s pray and ask God to help us to only believe what is true about God. I’ll pray for all of us now. (Pray)

You can tell your family what you learned about Peter when you do the Big Do this week.
Co-host
Listen to a song about God that helps you worship Him. Talk to your family about what the song means. See if you can find things in the Bible that match what the song says about God.
Host
I’m glad that we don’t have to let anything untrue inside of our hearts.
I’m going to say something, and you tell me if what I say is true or not true. (Tell some true and untrue statements such as “The sky is pink with polka dots” or “Polar Bears have white fur,” etc.)
What does a magician say when performing a trick? Right, Abracadabra! Let’s pretend to do a magic trick by pulling something out of a hat. Pretend to pull different animals or items out of a hat. (Use silly options and ask the kids what they are finding in their pretend hats.) What did Simon use to trick people in our Big Story? Magic What was more powerful: God’s power or Simon’s tricks? God’s power
What would you like to buy at the store if you had lots and lots of money? (Allow the kids to answer) When Peter prayed for people in Samaria, they were filled with who? The Holy Spirit Did Simon want to buy the Holy Spirit? Yes What did Peter tell Simon? No, and to stop making wrong choices
Let’s wave our arms really fast. Do you feel the air moving even though you can’t see it? Can we see God right now? No Can we see how God helps us? Yes John 4:24 (NIrV), “God is spirit. His worshipers must worship Him in the Spirit and in ____.”
