Large Group Instructions
Host and Co-Host enter. For this Welcome, use a large balloon. A weather balloon would create a great visual. Use a pump to blow the balloon up during the Engage. For a faster result, use a compressor.
Host
Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I have enjoyed learning about God by reading the song King David wrote in Psalm 23. I wonder what Conductor Carl and his friends will discover today.
The Co-Host attempts to blow up a really large balloon. He/She struggles and can barely add any air to it. Incorporate lots of huffing and puffing.
Host
Jr. Conductors, what is (Co-Host’s name) trying to do? (Pause) Yes, he/she is trying to blow up a balloon. Can you pretend to blow up a balloon with me? (Pretend to blow one up) Let’s bounce our pretend balloon from hand to hand.
Co-Host
You all are really good. I could use your help. I don’t think I’m ever going to get this blown up.
Host
That is a large balloon. Sometimes, we have big jobs to do or big problems to solve. They might feel too big for us to do by ourselves. Thankfully we have Someone who loves to help us.
Co-Host
Is the help tiny help or big help?
Host
It’s very big help. He is so good to us. I’ll show you the kind of help that He gives us. Look at this. Jr. Conductors, let’s blow up this balloon faster.
Host uses the pump or compressor to blow up the large balloon.
Co-Host
That’s big, big help! I’m excited to learn more, but first, stand up, say a big, “Choo-choo!”

Chef Bananas has quite a mess in his cake shop.
Co-Host
I hope Engineer Courtney and Ms. Maia can help him find what he needs.
Host
We need lots of help, too. Thankfully, we have a leader and friend who loves to help us. His help is so good. Let’s stand and practice our Big Point,
Host
The Lord Is My Provider!
Co-Host
Jr. Conductors, do you know what it means to provide? It means to give something. Our Big Point teaches us that God gives us things that we need.
Host
All the good things we have come from God’s blessings and help. God gives us His good help in lots of different ways. Sometimes He uses other people to help us.
Co-Host
Would you like to play a matching game with us? We’ll match the pictures. Each match will show something else that God provides for us.
Play the matching game using PowerPoint. If that’s not possible, print the included activity and play the matching game with physical cards. Each time a match is made, talk about how God provides that blessing, who He uses to provide that, and how it helps us.
Co-Host
There are so many good things that come from God.
Host
King David was wise to remind all of us to be thankful for God’s help. It’s nice to know that God loves to provide what we need. Let’s see if Engineer Courtney and Ms. Maia can find what Chef Bananas needs.
Prior to the Engage, fill both glass jars with the same amount of water and add a few drops of blue food coloring to the water to make it easier to see.

Thank you for helping our friends find Chef Bananas’ recipe. Inspector Nigel had a great idea to ask God for help. That’s what we learn in our Big Point. Let’s say it all together,
Host
The Lord Is My Provider!
Co-Host
Inspector Nigel shared the Big Verse with Engineer Courtney and Ms. Maia. It’s found in ...
Co-Host
...Psalm 23:5 (NIrV) and says, “You pour oil on my head. My cup runs over.”
Host
Let me show you something. I need your help deciding which cup has more water.
Show the two large glass jars of water.
Co-Host
Let’s look at them. Hmm, what do you think? Yes, I think they look the same.
Host
I’m going to add more to this one.
Pour more water in one of the jars.
Co-Host
That one definitely has more now.
Host
We all receive good things that we need, and when we trust God to take care of us, He can give us so much more. God doesn’t have just a little bit of blessings to give. He has a lot to give!
Pour the water into the second jar until the water spills over.
Host
That’s what our verse means. When our cup is so full that it spills over the side, it means that God gives us more good things than we even need! He helps us and blesses us. He does it because He loves you.
Co-Host
I can trust God to take care of me. You can, too!
Host
God provided many good things for the Israelites, as well. Before we hear their story, let’s stand and worship God!
I’m so glad we have Jesus to lead us toward the right things. It’s a good idea to learn Psalm 23 so you can remember it when you feel nervous. Let’s practice saying part of it together. “The Lord is my Shepherd. (The Lord is my Shepherd) He guides me in the right paths. (He guides me in the right paths) I will not be afraid. (I will not be afraid) You are with me. (You are with me) My cup runs over. (My cup runs over)” (Repeat 2x) Let’s pray and thank Jesus for being our Shepherd. “Dear Jesus, thank You for giving us good things. We are going to trust You to help us. Amen.”

Engineer Courtney and Ms. Maia found all the pieces of Chef Bananas’ recipe! Because of that, he won the blue ribbon. God gave the Israelites lots of help, too. That mean king wanted to say bad things about them, but God would only let Balaam say good things. Let’s practice our Big Point,
Host
The Lord Is My Provider!
Co-Host
We can practice the Big Point this week by doing the Big Do.
Host
This week’s Big Do is to look at all your toys, games, books, etc. and thank God for all He has provided for your family.
Co-Host
Some people think that God only gives just a tiny bit of help, just barely enough. Kind of like these bubbles.
Use a small bubble wand to blow a few bubbles.
Host
That’s not what we learned today. God loves to help us, and when He does, He gives us more than enough. Our cup runs over with good things. It’s like this.
Use the bubble gun to shoot lots of bubbles into the air.
Co-Host
Aren’t you glad that God provides good things for us? I am.
Host
When you need help, don’t be afraid to pray and ask God for help. Let’s say our Big Point,
Host
The Lord Is My Provider!
Did our Big Point say The Lord Takes My Stuff or The Lord Is My Provider?
Can you make the sound of a donkey? Say, “He haw! He haw!” Who did Balaam talk to in our Big Story? His donkey Why did the donkey stop walking? An angel stood in front of him
Let’s pretend to pour juice into a cup. Pour, pour, pour. Is the cup getting full? Keep pouring? Stop! Pour a little more. Look, it’s spilling over the side. Psalm 23:5 (NIrV), “You pour oil on my head. My cup runs (under / over).”
Show me your tongue. You use your tongue to speak. Everyone, say, “Hello!” Cover your mouth and try to say, “Hello!” again. (Cover your mouth and muffle the sound) Could Balaam say only good things or only bad things about the Israelites? Good things Did this make the mean king angry? Yes Who caused Balaam to say good things about the Israelites? God
What is today’s Big Do? Thank God for all He has provided for your family
