Co-Host I Can Be Humble!

Host Good job! You can sit down on your pockets. Humble is a big word that means to think of yourself and others the way God does. Humble people fill themselves up with the good words that God says about them. Those good words lift them up.

Co-Host What if you use words that aren’t humble?

Host Let me show you. Saying true things like, “God loves me,” “God made me,” “God helps me do good things” is like filling this balloon with air. (Blow up a balloon) Look how it bounces. (Bounce the balloon up in the air) Pretend to bounce your own balloon.

Co-Host If we say words that aren’t humble like “I’m the most important,” or “Everyone loves me the most,” or even “No one is better than me” then it’s like being filled with rocks. What will happen if I put rocks in this balloon? Let’s try it. (Fill a balloon with small rocks and then blow it up)

Host Yep, it crashed. Negative words pull us down, like this balloon. Humble words lift us up and please God. These words help us. Let’s see if Lionel says things that are humble or not humble.

Host Was it humble when Lionel told Farmer Faith that she wasn’t important enough to hold his trophy? No, I’m glad Conductor Gordon shared the Big Verse to help Lionel understand the Big Point,

Host I Can Be Humble!

Co-Host Let’s read the verse from the Bible.

Co-Host Philippians 2:3 (NIrV) says, “Instead, be humble. Value others more than yourselves.”

Host Valuable means that something or someone is important to you.

Co-Host Let’s think of something most of us have that is valuable. Do any of you have a favorite toy or stuffed animal? (Show the stuffed animal and toy car) Let’s pretend to hug and squeeze a fluffy stuffed animal. Would you throw your favorite toy on the ground? Let’s pretend to throw it.

Host No, that might break it. Would you stomp on it? Stand up and stomp. No way! Would leave it out in the rain? Let’s sit on our pockets and use our fingers to make raindrops.

Co-Host If something is valuable, you treat it carefully. So, when we follow our Big Verse, we treat our friends, family, and anyone we meet as valuable.

Host That means we won’t try to be the most important. Being humble means that you show everyone that they’re important, too, because we are all special and loved by God. Let’s stand and sing a worship song to Jesus.

Jesus showed us how to be humble, and He gives us the power to make that choice. Let’s practice being humble by thinking about what our friends need. I want you to pray for your friend. Quietly ask Jesus to help your friends. You can do that now. (Pause) Good job. I’m going to be humble and pray for you.

Co-Host Oh no, look at the Train Station. It’s mess. We didn’t make this mess, but I have an idea. What if we cleaned it up to help Conductor Carl?

Host That would be a humble choice. Cleaning up someone else’s mess shows that person we love them.

Co-Host Doing that would show that we don’t think that we are the most important. It reminds me of how Jesus washed stinky feet even when He didn’t have to.

Host Would you like to help? Let’s choose some friends to help us clean up. Everyone else can help us by pointing to all the trash so we can clean everything up.

4. Pretend to pour some water on a dirty foot. Splash more water on it. Use your towel to dry it off. Who decided to wash everyone’s feet? Jesus Was that a humble choice? Yes

5. Pretend to take a picture with your phone. What are you taking a picture of? Did Lionel ask Engineer Kelly to be in his picture? Yes Did Lionel tell everyone that his dad had helped him? Yes
