Host

Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I’m so glad you came to visit Conductor Carl and all our friends.

Co-Host

I really like Conductor Carl, Engineer Kelly, Mia, and all our friends at the Train Station. Do you like all of Conductor Carl’s friends?

Host

I’m glad you do. Sometimes we like the same things and sometimes we like different things. Let’s look at some things on the screen and see which ones most of us like.

This is a version of “This or That.” Each slide has two options. The kids will say which one they like the most.

  • Puppies or Kittens

  • Ice Cream or Candy

  • Green or Red

  • Slide or Swings

  • Spider or Bee

Co-Host

It was fun to see what the Jr. Conductors liked. We didn’t all like the same things, and that’s okay.

Host

Today we get to learn about Someone who we should always copy. It’s a good thing to like what He likes. First give us a big, “Choo-choo!”

Engage 1Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2)

Host and Co-Host enter.

Co-Host

Mia is having lots of fun with opposite day. I can’t believe she cried when Conductor Carl gave her the missing crown! Let’s pretend to cry like Mia.

Host

I’m worried about Mia. She’s thinking about breaking some of the rules at the Train Station because of opposite day. Is that a wise choice? No, I think she should follow the Big Point. Let’s practice the Big Point again,

Host

I Love What Jesus Loves!

Co-Host

Does that Big Point mean that we should do the same or the opposite of what Jesus does? (Pause) Yes! We should do the same things that Jesus does.

Host

Let’s play a game. In this game, you must do the same thing that I do, but our friend, (Co-Host’s name), will do the opposite. Remember, who should you copy, me or (Co-Host)? Yes, me.

Play the game. Have the Co-Host do the opposite of the Host. If the Host waves his/her arms, the Co-Host should move his/her legs. If the Host bends down, the Co-Host should stand up tall, etc.

Co-Host

You can sit back down on your pockets. Was it hard to do the same as (Host) when I did the opposite? Sometimes other people will do the opposite of what God wants, but we should keep copying Jesus. It’s always a wise choice to like what He likes.

Host

The best way to know what Jesus likes is to read the Bible. The Bible teaches us all about the things that God loves and the things that He doesn’t like. Asking your family to read the Bible with you is a wise choice. Let’s see if Mia makes a wise choice.

Engage 2Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2), Bubbles with Wand (2)

Host and Co-Host enter.

Co-Host

Was Mia making some wrong choices today? She decided to do the opposite of what Jesus wants us to do.

Host

I’m glad that Engineer Kelly reminded her that we should never do the opposite of Jesus. The wise choice is to follow the Big Point. Let’s stand and say it again,

Host

I Love What Jesus Loves!

Co-Host

I like the verse that Engineer Kelly shared from the Bible.

Co-Host

Proverbs 8:13 (NIrV) says, “To have respect for the Lord is to hate evil.”

Host

We don’t usually say the word “hate” because we know God doesn’t want us to hate anyone. God loves us all. This verse means that if we love Jesus, we should hate or push away anything that is evil or bad.

Co-Host

Jesus is holy, which means He is good and can never do wrong things. Jesus never lets evil things near Him. He pushes them away. We can, too.

Host

Let’s play a game with some of our friends and practice pushing away bad things. We have chosen some Jr. Conductors to come on stage to play this game. (Co-Host) and I will blow bubbles, and your job is to blow them back to us. Keep them far away from you.

Choose some kids to play the game. Both the Host and Co-Host should blow bubbles at the kids. Have the kids blow them away or pop them.

Co-Host

That was so much fun!

Host

It’s always a wise choice to say, “No” to wrong things. We can be more like Jesus when we push away anything that is evil. Jesus’ friends should only do the kinds of things Jesus likes.

Co-Host

In just a moment we will hear a true story about some people who didn’t like what Jesus liked, but first let’s stand and worship God.

Big Story

Let’s pray and ask Jesus to help us make wise choices, the kind that He loves. “Dear God, help us to say and do the things that You love. Help us to always say, “No” to things that are wrong. Amen.”

Engage 3Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2)

Host and Co-Host enter.

Co-Host

I’m glad that Mia learned that we should never have an opposite day from doing what Jesus loves.

Host

It’s always a good idea to copy what Jesus said and did so that we can make right choices. Let’s all practice our Big Point again,

Host

I Love What Jesus Loves!

Co-Host

By making those people leave the Temple, Jesus let everyone know that He loves it when people worship. They were making it hard for people to worship, and that is not what Jesus loves. He loves giving people the opportunity to worship.

Host

You can tell your family about what you learned about Jesus when you do the Big Do this week.

Host

Make a list of things that Jesus loves and do one of those things this week.

Co-Host

Let’s think of some things that Jesus loves and act them out.

List some different actions that Jesus loves and allow the kids to act them out.

  • Praying for someone

  • Reading the Bible

  • Worshipping Jesus

  • Obeying your parents

  • Being happy and joyful

  • Sharing with others

Host

I hope that we will all follow our Big Point. Let’s say it once more,

Host

I Love What Jesus Loves!

Big Review
  • Did our Big Point say, I Don’t Like What Jesus Loves or I Love What Jesus Loves?

  • If I smile, can you show me the opposite? What if I open my eyes wide, what’s the opposite? If I shake my head, “Yes” what’s the opposite? Who decided to make it opposite day at the Train Station? Mia What did Mia learn about doing the opposite of making right choices? She learned to always make right choices, even on opposite day

  • Put your hands in front of you, like you are pushing something really heavy. Now pretend to push something that’s light as a feather. Proverbs 8:13 (NIrV) says, “To have respect for the Lord is to hate (good things / evil).”

  • Where did Jesus visit in the Big Story? The Temple What did Jesus find crowding the temple and making it hard for people to worship God? Animals Can you moo like a cow? What did Jesus do at the Temple? He sent away the animals and people who weren’t following God What are some things that Jesus loves that we can do? Obey, tell the truth, tell others God loves them, …

  • What did Conductor Carl tell us to do in the Big Do? Make a list of some things that Jesus loves and do one of those things this week
