Host

Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I hope that you are ready for an exciting day. Wait a second, do you see our friend? What is he/she wearing?

Co-Host

Yep, I’m wearing my pajamas. Isn’t that what we wear when we go to the Train Station?

Host

Do we get dressed in our pajamas to come to the Train Station? No, when is the right time to wear pajamas? Right, at bedtime. Let’s pretend to lay our heads on a pillow and sleep.

Pretend to sleep.

Co-Host

Do you sleep on a pillow?! No, we use our pillows at dinner! You set your food on a pillow.

Host

Ha, do we use a pillow at dinner? No, we set our food on a plate. I think our friend is confused. Let’s help him/her by talking about some things we do at different times during the day.

Show the following morning, noon, and night slides. Have the kids suggest different activities to do or places to go at those times. If time permits, act some of them out.

Co-Host

Oh, I feel really silly. I guess I better change into my overalls.

Co-Host exits.

Host

Today we will hear about something we can do at any time of the day. But first, give us a big, “Choo-choo!”

Engage 1Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2), Clock

Host and Co-Host enter, dressed in overalls.

Co-Host

I hope that we can help Engineer Courtney find her missing clock.

Host

Me, too. She thinks that she can only pray at seven o’ clock, but I don’t think that’s right. Let’s stand and practice our Big Point,

Host

I Can Pray Anytime!

Co-Host

The Big Point says that we can pray any time of the day.

Host

Have you ever heard the song, “Hickory Dickory Dock?” Let’s sing that now, but we’re going to sing it about praying.

Sing along with the video, using the following lyrics. Come up with motions for the song, such as putting your hands together when you say, “Prayer.” If you like, you can have the kids stand and do the motions with you.

Hickory dickory dock. I ran up to the clock.

The clock struck one. My prayer was done.

Hickory dickory dock. Tick tock, tick tock. Tick tock, tick tock.

Hickory dickory dock. I ran up to the clock.

The clock struck two. I prayed with you.

Hickory dickory dock. Tick tock, tick tock. Tick tock, tick tock.

Hickory dickory dock. I ran up to the clock.

The clock struck three. I prayed with glee.

Hickory dickory dock. Tick tock, tick tock. Tick tock, tick tock.

Hickory dickory dock. I ran up to the clock.

The clock struck four. I prayed some more.

Hickory dickory dock. Tick tock, tick tock. Tick tock, tick tock.

Hickory dickory dock. I ran up to the clock.

The clock struck five. God is alive!

Hickory dickory dock. Tick tock, tick tock. Tick tock, tick tock.

Co-Host

That was fun. I love praying, and I’m glad that God can talk to me any time of the day.

Show the clock and move the hands as you speak.

Host

That’s right. You can pray when it’s eight o’ clock in the morning, two o’ clock in the afternoon, or even seven o’ clock at night.

Co-Host

I think we should make sure to share that Big Point with Engineer Courtney.

Host

That’s a good idea. If you see her missing clock, be sure to let her know where it is.

Engage 2Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2)

Host and Co-Host enter.

Co-Host

You helped Engineer Courtney find her clock. I think you should clap for yourselves.

Host

I’m glad that Inspector Nigel was there to help her learn the Big Point. Let’s practice singing the Big Point again,

Host

I Can Pray Anytime!

Co-Host

I like the verse that Inspector Nigel shared from the Bible.

Co-Host

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NIrV) says, “Never stop praying.”

Host

That doesn’t mean that we have to pray and never take a big breath. That would be silly. This verse means that we can pray at any time during our day.

Co-Host

Let’s practice doing something fun without stopping. Everyone, stand up. Whatever I tell you to do, keep doing it until I say, “Stop!”

Have the kids show perseverance by doing different actions like hopping, spinning, walking in place, nodding their heads, waving their arms, for an extended period of time.

Host

Whew, you kept going and didn’t stop. We can keep talking to God throughout the day, just like you talk to a friend or to your mommy or daddy.

Co-Host

You can pray quietly, or you can “talk” to God in your head, just by thinking about the words you want to say to Him. God loves to spend time with you.

Host

You don’t have to wait until dinner or wait until bedtime to pray. You can pray anytime. You can worship God anytime, too. Let’s do that now.

Big Story

Optional: Play Soft Instrumental Music

One way that you can pray is by saying Bible verses when you talk to God. Let’s pray using our Big Verse. Repeat after me, “Dear God, thank You for helping me to keep praying.” (Repeat 3x) That was great.

Engage 3Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2)

Host and Co-Host enter.

Co-Host

Do you like eating french fries and hamburgers like Engineer Courtney?

Host

That does sound delicious. I’m glad she learned that our Big Point is true. Let’s all practice our Big Point again,

Host

I Can Pray Anytime!

Co-Host

It was so cool to hear how Jesus prayed all the time while He was on earth. It’s always a wise choice to follow Jesus’ example and pray, too.

Host

You can tell your family about what you learned about Jesus when you do the Big Do this week.

Host

Here’s what it is: pray somewhere you’ve never prayed before! Let’s pretend to pray in new places.

Co-Host

Pretend you’re on a playground. What kinds of things do we do at a playground? (Allow for answers) Let’s pretend to slide down a slide. Now act like we’re swinging. Do you think we could pray at the park?

Host

We sure can. We can pray anytime, anywhere! Let’s pretend to take a soapy, bubbly bath. Let’s make a big splash with our arms. Splash! Splash! Pretend to scoop up some bubbles and blow them around the bath. Could we pray in the bathtub?

Co-Host

We sure can. We can pray anytime, anywhere! Let’s pretend that we’re riding in the car to school. What do you see outside zooming past you? (Allow for answers) Can we pray in the car? We sure can!

Host

It will be fun to find somewhere new to pray this week. Let’s say our Big Point once more,

Host

I Can Pray Anytime!
