Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I’m so glad that you came by for a visit.

Co-Host

Today we will discover true things about God with Conductor Carl and all his friends. I love learning what the Bible says about Jesus.

Host

What we’re going to learn today has something to do with fruit. Let’s play a matching game where you see if you can match the pictures of fruit. We’ll ask a Jr. Conductor to pick a number and then someone else will pick a different number. You can help us decide if those pictures match.

Co-Host

If they do match, everyone can clap, and we’ll keep going. If they don’t match, we’ll cover them up and keep playing. Remember where you see the different fruits.

Play the matching game on screen or with the included cards. Try to give as many kids as possible the opportunity to guess a number.

Host

That was lots of fun. The fruit we’re learning about in the Bible doesn’t grow on trees.

Co-Host

Where does it grow?

Host

It grows in our hearts because it comes from following God. If you’re ready to find out more, say, “Choo-choo!”

Engage 1Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2), Beach Ball (3)

Host

Farmer Faith has been very helpful today.

Co-Host

She discovered that she had enough fruit to share with Engineer Kelly. Do you think that was a wise choice?

Host

Sharing her watermelons was a wise choice because she followed the Big Point.

Co-Host

Today’s Big Point is about love. That’s something that grows inside of us when we follow God. It’s one of the Fruits of the Spirit. Following the Holy Spirit helps you to grow good things inside of you, like love.

Host

Let’s stand and practice our Big Point,

Host

Put Others First!

Co-Host

When you love someone, you don’t mind helping them. That reminds me of how Farmer Faith shared some of her watermelons. She put Engineer Kelly first instead of keeping them all for herself.

Host

What’s your favorite toy to play with? (Allow a few kids to answer) Putting others first means sharing your toys with others.

Co-Host

What’s your favorite show to watch on a tablet? (Allow a few kids to answer) Putting others first can mean letting someone else choose what they want to watch on TV.

Host

Let’s practice sharing right now. I’m going to toss a ball to one of you. I want you to hand that ball to someone else, and then we’ll keep going to share with everyone.

Toss a beach ball to a child. Help him/her share that ball with another child. Then encourage each one to share with the child next to them. Have two or three volunteers simultaneously sharing in the audience, so that everyone can participate.

Co-Host

It’s good to love others. One way God helps us put others first is by growing love inside of us.

Host

Let’s see if Farmer Faith will get to build her fruit stand.

Engage 2Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2), Seed, Pot, Watering Can, Soda Bottle, Blanket

Host and Co-Host enter.

Host

Farmer Faith helped Chef Bananas and Chef Basghetti with her fruit. She is following the Big Point. Let’s practice the Big Point again,

Host

Put Others First!

Co-Host

Have any of you ever planted a flower before? Let’s pretend to plant a fruit tree. First let’s dig a tiny hole in the ground. (Make a hole in the soil) What do we put in the hole we dig? (Pause) A seed! Let’s plant it and cover it up. (Cover it with dirt)

Host

If you wanted this tree to grow big and strong and grow delicious fruit, would you sprinkle water or soda on it? (Show the watering can and soda bottle) Is soda good for a plant? No, trees need water. Let’s pretend to pour plenty of water on our tree.

Co-Host

Let’s think of what else plants need. Would you give your fruit tree lots of sunshine or cover it with a blanket? (Show the blanket) Let’s pretend to cover it with a blanket. Does that seem right? No!

Host

It needs lots of sunshine. Let’s hold our arms out wide, like we are a bright sun. Rub your arms, like you feel the warm sun. A tree needs good things so it can grow good fruit.

Co-Host

To grow the Fruit of the Spirit inside of us, we need God’s help. The Big Verse, found in

Co-Host

Galatians 5:25 (NIrV) says, “Keep in step with the Spirit.” The Holy Spirit helps us grow good fruit, like love. He gives us all we need.

Host

Let’s practice keeping in step. Everyone, stand up. I want you to keep in step with us by copying everything we do. Do you think you can do that?

Do various motions varying the speed and tempo.

Co-Host

That was lots of fun. Keeping in step with the Holy Spirit means we say and do what God shows us to say and do.

Host

It’s always a great time to worship God. Let’s stay standing and do that now!

Big Story

Let’s bow our heads and close our eyes. Talk to God and ask Him to help you think of a way you could show love. (Pause) Now I’ll pray for all of us. Dear God, thank You for helping us show love by putting others first. Thank You that we always have Your help to make wise choices. Amen.

I’m so glad that Farmer Faith sold all her fruit. She was a great example of our Big Point. Let’s practice our Big Point,

Host

Put Others First!

Co-Host

We can practice the Big Point this week by doing the Big Do.

Host

This week’s Big Do is to help someone with a job around the house.

Co-Host

One job you could do is to help someone match socks. (Hold up the socks) Do these match? No. What about these? Yes. Let’s fold them up.

					**Host**

You could help sweep up a mess. Stand up and pretend to sweep.

Use the broom to sweep the stage.

Co-Host

Let’s pretend to wash dishes. Hold them under the water. Scrub them with a cloth. They look clean to me. You can have a seat on your pockets.

Host

I think we’re on our way to growing the Fruit of the Spirit. Let’s say our Big Point again,

Host

Put Others First!

Big Review
  • Did our Big Point say Put Others Second or Put Others First?
