Large Group Instructions
Host and Co-Host enter dressed in overalls.
Host
Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I’m so glad that you came by to visit.
Co-Host
I know that Conductor Carl loves it when his friends come to learn about God. We’ve been learning about the Fruit of the Spirit. Is that like the fruit we eat for a yummy snack?
Host
You’re right; we don’t eat the Fruit of the Spirit. That’s the good attitudes and choices that grow inside of us, in our hearts. Our heart is that special place that connects to God.
Co-Host
Today we’ll discover more about kindness. We can be kind to anyone, even people who aren’t kind to us.
Host
Choosing to be kind is a great way to help everyone feel better. Let’s play a game with some Jr. Conductors on stage. We will blow bubbles, and you guys can try to pop them.
Blows bubbles and have the kids pop as many as they can. A bubble gun is a fun way to supersize this activity.
Co-Host
Some people get really angry, but our kindness can help pop their anger and show them that God loves them.
Host
We will hear how we can show kindness as we learn about the Fruit of the Spirit. Jr. Conductors, help us get ready for a fun day by saying, “Choo-choo!”
Host and Co-Host enter.
Host
Do any of you want to be a veterinarian, like Mia?
Co-Host
I’m glad she’s learning about caring.
Host
That’s what we discovered in our Big Point. Let’s practice it together,
Host
Care For Others!
Co-Host
What does it mean to care for someone?
Host
Let’s think about it this way. We have some of our friends who will help us on stage. They’re dressed like different kinds of people.
Co-Host
We can think about how these people show kindness, and even act it out. See if you can guess who they are.
Have 3-4 kids come on stage. Use child-sized dress up clothes and props for each one. Suggestions would be a teacher, firefighter, police officer, doctor, etc. With each one, talk about the kind things that person does and have the kids pretend to do something, like putting out a fire or helping a person cross the street.
Host
Those are all kind people. Do you know who is the kindest person of all? It’s God. That’s right; Jesus is kind to us. He loves us and takes good care of us.
Co-Host
When we walk in step with the Holy Spirit, we copy Jesus and make kind choices, too.
Host
That means you can care for others.
Co-Host
Let’s see how the rest of Mia’s day goes.
Host and Co-Host enter.
Host
Mia made a wise choice when she helped Mrs. Meagan pick up the spilled fruit. She followed the Big Point. Let’s say it together,
Host
Care For Others!
Co-Host
Mia also listened to the Big Verse from the Bible.
Co-Host
Ephesians 4:32 (NIrV) says, “Be kind and tender to one another.” What does it mean to be tender?
Host
Tenderness is when you’re careful not to hurt someone with the words you say or the things you do. Let’s show what it looks like when you aren’t tender. Can you climb up the ladder and drop an egg onto the plastic?
Co-Host climbs up the ladder.
Co-Host
Jr. Conductors, what do you think will happen to this egg? Do you think it will bounce? Oh no, I just remembered humpty dumpty. Did he bounce? Let’s see what happens.
Drop the egg on the plastic. It breaks.
Host
Was that a tender way to drop an egg? No, it broke. Let’s try dropping an egg, but this time we’ll give the egg a parachute.
Co-Host
Jr. Conductors, what do you think will happen to this egg? Do you think it will fall slower or faster than the first one?
Attach the two parachutes to the small cup. Put the egg in the cup. Drop it and let it float to the ground. Be sure to test this before service.
Co-Host
Was that a tender way to drop an egg? (Pause) It sure was. We were careful to make sure it didn’t break.
Host
God is tender with us. He’s never mean to us. He only does things that are good for us. When we are kind, we do the same thing for others. Let’s stand and worship God!
Jr. Conductors, do you know who can help us make wise choices, like being kind? Jesus can. All we have to do is ask Him for help. What do we call it when we talk to Jesus? Yep, prayer. We can do that now. Close your eyes. Dear God, thank You for helping us be careful with our words and careful with how we act. We’re so glad that the Holy Spirit helps us to be kind to everyone we meet. Amen.

Mia made such wise choices today. I’m glad that she discovered how to follow the Big Point,
Host
Care For Others!
Co-Host
We can remember the Big Point this week when we do the Big Do with our family.
Host
This week’s Big Do is to make a treat and share it with someone you know. What kind of treat would you like to make? (Allow the kids to answer and pretend to make/eat that treat)
Co-Host
Let’s practice being careful with a treat. I have a toy cake (or whatever type of toy food available), and I will practice tossing it to a friend.
Host
Would it be tender and kind to throw this treat hard at his/her face? No way! It would be much kinder to toss it carefully.
Practice tossing the toy food back and forth with different kids.
Co-Host
You did a great job. Make sure you are careful with your treat so that you don’t drop it on the way to give it to your friend.
Host
The Jr. Conductors will show lots of kindness this week when they do the Big Do.
Co-Host
I think we should practice our Big Point again,
Co-Host
Care For Others!
Did our Big Point say Don’t Care For Others or Care For Others!
Let’s pretend to ride on the back of an animal. What kind of animal should we sit on? (Choose different kinds of animals like a horse, camel, or silly options like a frog) Who was riding on a donkey in our Big Story? Saul Was he going to the city to help Christians or hurt them? Hurt them
Do you like sitting in the sun at the beach? What do you wear to the beach? Do you wear a big, fluffy coat? What do you use to cover your eyes when it’s sunny? What happened to Saul after he talked to Jesus and saw the really bright light? He couldn’t see
I wonder how good you are at guessing when you can’t see. Everyone, close your eyes. I will do something, and I want you to keep your eyes closed. Guess what I did, but don’t peek. (Do different movements and ask the kids to guess) What did God ask Ananias to do for Saul? Pray for him What happened after Ananias prayed? Saul could see
Who is the strongest person in your family? What does our Big Verse say? Ephesians 4:32 (NIrV), “Be kind and (rough / tender) to one another.”
