Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I hope you have enjoyed learning about the Bible. We certainly have had a fun time.
Co-host
Learning about the Bible is fun because it brings us so much joy. This makes sense because God wants us to be joyful.
Host
I have an idea. Let’s see if we can make each other laugh with some silly jokes. It’s okay if you laugh a lot.
Host and Co-host will take turns telling jokes. Choose as many as you have time to share.
What do you call a sleeping dinosaur? Dino-SNORE
What does a cow do for fun? Go to the MOO-vies
What’s a train with a cold? A-choo-choo train
What did the baby banana say when it was sick? I peel bad
Knock Knock. Who’s there? Boo! Boo who? Oh, no, don’t cry!
Knock Knock. Who’s there? Atch. Atch who? Bless you!
What do you call a bear with no teeth? A gummy bear
What do you call a sad strawberry? A blueberry
Host
Oh my, those jokes were so silly.
Co-host
Laughing can help you feel better. But we have something that can help us even more than funny jokes: the Bible.
Host
That’s right. The Bible is so useful when you’re sad, or angry, or scared. That’s because God gave us the Bible. We’ll learn more with Conductor Carl and his friends, but first, let’s say, “Choo-choo!”
Host
Do you think Conductor Carl will be upset about his broken mug?
Co-host
Engineer Kelly and Farmer Faith are trying hard to put it back together, but they are having some trouble so far.
Host
They need help putting the mug back together. We need help, too, when our hearts are sad, scared, or confused. I’m glad that we have a special book from God to read and obey that can help us.
Co-host
Let’s stand and practice our Big Point to find out what that is.
Co-host
(Practice the Big Point) The Bible Helps Us!
Host
The Bible is full of things that teach us what is true about God and what God says about us. If God says something about us, do you think what He says is true?
Co-host
It sure is. God never, ever tells a lie. God’s Word, the Bible, won’t say things that will hurt us.
Host
Let’s look at some pictures. Which of the items in the pictures will help you the most?
Show the slides and have the kids name each item. Discuss which one will be the most helpful in meeting each need.
Slide A Need: Hunger
Slide B Need: Warmth
Slide C Need: Thirsty
Slide D Need: Dirty
Slide E Need: Tired
Co-host
If you are scared, or sad, or confused, or angry, the Bible can help you discover what you need. The words in the Bible remind us of all the things God has said.
Host
The Bible teaches us that God is close to us when we’re sad and takes good care of us when we need something. We can have joy, peace, and wisdom no matter what happens. We learn from the Bible how to ask God for those things.
Co-host
That’s why it’s so important to read your Bible and obey what it says to do. Let’s see if Farmer Faith and Engineer Kelly can fix the broken mug.
Host and Co-host enter. This Engage uses the Torn and Restored Heart illusion. This illusion requires no purchased items. Simply cut hearts out of paper. You can find multiple illustrations of the illusion online.

Chef Bananas’ honey was not very helpful in fixing the mug, but Professor Beaker’s invention will glue all the pieces back together. He helped his friends like the Bible helps us. Let’s stand and practice the Big Point again,
Host
The Bible Helps Us!
Co-host
Let’s look at the Verse that Professor Beaker shared from the Bible.
Co-host
2 Timothy 3:16 (NIrV), “God has breathed life into all of Scripture… It is useful for making our lives whole again.”
Host
Have you ever heard of someone having a broken heart? (Show the heart) Does our heart really break? No, that saying means that it hurts our feelings when bad things happen.
As the different negative situations are listed, tear the heart according to the directions in the video.
Co-host
Maybe someone you love gets sick. A sad heart hurts. It hurts when someone is mean to us. Our hearts hurt when friends move away. Sometimes, we feel bad because we’re scared when our mommies or daddies argue. All of those things can make our hearts break.
Host
The Bible is useful for making our lives whole again. That means that even when bad things happen, the Bible helps us. It gives us the wisdom to make wise choices. The Bible reminds us that God is always with us. We learn how God can heal us and others in the Bible. In the Bible, we read all of the good and kind things that God says about us. The Bible can fix a broken heart.
Unfold the second heart, making it appear that it has been restored.
Co-host
I’m thankful we can read the Bible and learn God’s truth. Before we hear our Big
Story, let’s stand and worship God!
Optional play soft instrumental music
Jr. Conductors, I’m so glad that God gave us the Bible. He’s also given us friends at church to help us. Let’s help each other by praying for our friends. Can you gently place your hand on the shoulder of a friend nearby? Very gently. Let’s close our eyes. Repeat after me. “Dear God, please help my friend. Help them to know all of the good things You said in the Bible. Amen.”
This Engage uses a Books of the Bible song. Different versions can be purchased or found online. Find one that works for your group. For this series, we will focus on learning the New Testament books.

Conductor Carl seemed so happy to have his favorite mug again. That reminds me of what God’s Word, the Bible, does for us. Let’s practice our Big Point,

King Hezekiah was worried when that mean king wanted to fight. Thankfully, King Hezekiah listened to God’s Word and chose to be brave. We can tell our family about King Hezekiah when we do this week’s Big Do.
Host
This week’s Big Do is to be a big helper around the house. You can clean your room, match socks, or even help with dinner. Then, talk about how the Bible also helps us.
Co-host
This month, we’re learning the books in the Bible. Are you beginning to learn all of the books in our song? That’s great. I think we should practice them again.
Play Books of the Bible Song and sing along. You can even incorporate your worship team in this segment and add fun motions to the song.
Host
That was lots of fun. Maybe next week you can try to tell us all of the books of the Bible without the song. Let’s say our Big Point,
Host
The Bible Helps Us!
Let’s Practice our Big Point again. Hmm, did our Big Point say The Bible Hurts Us? or The Bible Helps Us!
Let’s pretend to sip a cup of hot cocoa. Pretend to drink. What happened to Conductor Carl’s mug? It was broken. What did his friends do? They used Professor Beaker’s invention to glue it back together.
Let’s hold hands with the friend sitting on either side of you. When I say go, let’s shake our hands and see if we can keep holding on to each other’s hand. 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIrV), “God has breathed life into all of Scripture… It is useful for making our lives _____ again.”

Why was King Hezekiah worried in the Big Story? A mean king came and wanted to fight him with a giant army. What helped King Hezekiah? God sent a message to the king through Isaiah. Did God help King Hezekiah by defeating that mean king? Yes
What is today’s Big Do? Be a helper around your house.
