Host Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! We are so close to Christmas!
Co-Host I get more excited each day. Does anyone have a Christmas tree in your house?
Host Today we will learn another way we can give at Christmas. Let’s start today with a fun game. Everyone, stand up.
Co-Host First we’re going to squeeze together. Try to get as close to your friends as you can. Squeeze tighter. A little tighter. Try to squeeze together a little more.
Host Now spread out until you can’t touch each other. Reach your arms out to make sure you can’t touch anyone.
Co-Host Look at the Jr. Conductors. They were stuck together, and now they made room for even more Jr. Conductors to join them.
Host That’s a clue about today’s Big Point. Before we visit Conductor Carl and his friends, everyone, say “Choo-choo!”
Host and Co-Host enter.
Host Are you surprised that Mia is so upset about her grandmother visiting?
Co-Host Do any of your families visit at Christmas? (Pause) Who visits? (Allow for answers)
Host I think Mia is only thinking about what makes her feel comfortable. She needs to hear our Big Point. Let’s practice our Big Point again,
Host Make Room To Give!
Co-Host Sometimes it seems like I don’t have enough to give.
Host The Jr. Conductors understand how that feels. Because you’re little, you might think you can’t make room to give, but with God, you can. That’s because He helps you. Let’s see if this bottle of soda can make room in this balloon.
Place the empty balloon on the neck of the bottle. Nothing happens.
Co-Host Nope, there’s no extra room in that balloon.
Host Let’s give this other balloon some help. I’m going to pour Pop Rocks candy in the balloon. (Pour the Pop Rocks into the funnel in the balloon) Now let’s put this balloon on the soda and watch what happens.
Place the balloon with the candy over the neck of the soda bottle. The balloon will expand.
Co-Host That balloon is much bigger than the other one. Just like the candy helped blow up the balloon, God can give us the power to give, even when we don’t think we can.
Host Yes, we can all find ways to make room to give at Christmas. Let’s see if Mia can learn the Big Point.
Host and Co-Host enter.
Co-Host Mia doesn’t want to share her room with her Abuela. Have you ever been mad because you had to share your room or toys with someone who visited your house?
Host Giving up something we like to help someone else is good, and it helps us follow the Big Point. Let’s practice the Big Point,
Host Make Room To Give!
Co-Host Engineer Kelly shared a verse from the Bible with Mia. It’s today’s Big Verse.
Co-Host Hebrews 13:16 (NIrV) says, “Don’t forget to share with others.”
Host It makes God so happy when we remember to share what we have with someone else.
Co-Host Let’s test our remembering, I mean memory, with a fun game. I have three presents, and I’m going to put a ball under one of them. Pay attention to which one it is.
Host Now we’re going to mix them up. See if you can remember which one has the ball under it.
Move the boxes around several times and then have the kids choose which one they think the ball is under. Play this game several times.
Co-Host That was fun! One thing we should never forget to do is share what we have with other people.
Host There are lots of ways to share at Christmas. You can share gifts, hugs, yummy treats, and especially the good news about Jesus. Let’s stand and sing a song to praise God.
Play optional soft instrumental music.
Let’s bow our heads and close our eyes. I think this would be a good time to ask Jesus for His help. He can help us think of people that we can share with this Christmas. Quietly, at your seat, talk to Jesus and ask Him who you can help. (Pause) Now I’ll pray for all of us. (Pray)
Host and Co-Host enter.
Co-Host I’m so glad that Mia’s Abuela is staying for Christmas! They’re going to have lots of fun together.
Host Mia made a wise choice when she followed our Big Point. Let’s all practice our Big Point again,
Host Make Room To Give!
Co-Host I’m glad that someone made room for Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem. It would have been sad if they had to stay outside in the cold. I wouldn’t have wanted baby Jesus to be freezing.
Host That’s a good example for us. We can make a wise choice, too, when we do the Big Do with our family. Conductor Carl gave us a great idea.
Host Look in your closet and share some winter clothes with people who need them. Many of us have clothes that are too small for us to wear. We can share them so others can be warm.
Co-Host Let’s try sharing clothes by playing a fun game. We will choose some kids and engineers (Adult volunteers) to play.
Host When we say, “Go!” you get to pass the clothes from one person to the next person until they reach the last person. Keep doing that until you’ve passed all of the clothes.
Play the game. Spread the adult/teen volunteers throughout the line so they can help the kids play the game. This game is more about cooperation than competition.
Co-Host Great job! You shared all of the clothes.
Host Let’s say our Big Point once more,
Host Make Room To Give!
Hmm, did our Big Point say Make Room To Keep or Make Room To Give?
Let’s pretend to make a snowman. What should we do first? Let’s roll up a giant snowball to be the bottom. Should the next snowball be bigger or smaller? Smaller. Let’s make one more. What should we use for the eyes, nose, etc.? How did Mia react when she first heard that her Abuela was visiting? She was upset Why? She didn’t want to share her room
Stand up and pretend you are walking from Nazareth to Bethlehem, like Mary and Joseph. It was a long walk. Pretend you are riding on a donkey on a bumpy road. When Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem was there a lot of people there or a little? Lots of people Did they have a hard time finding a place to stay? Yes
What kind of animals do you find on a farm? What sounds do those animals make? Who was born around animals? Jesus
What kinds of things do you like to do with your grandparents? Those sound so much fun. Did Mia choose to make room for her Abuela? Yes
Let’s pretend to do our Big Do and share a winter coat with someone nearby. Take the pretend coat and put it on. Doesn’t that feel so much warmer. What does our Big Verse say? Hebrews 13:16 (NIrV), “Don’t ______ to share with others.”
- Forget
- Remember
