Host and Co-Host enter.

Host Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I’m so glad that you’re here.

Co-Host Everyone at the Train Station is excited about the kids going back to school. Do any of you go to preschool or Kindergarten?

Host I have a fun idea. Let’s pretend that it’s the first day of school. What should we do first?

Co-Host I know. We have to wake up. Hold your arms up and yawn. Rub your eyes. Let’s put on our school clothes. Slip on your shirt and pants.

Host Don’t forget your shoes. Slide those on each foot. You can’t go to school on an empty stomach. Should we eat cereal or donuts for breakfast? Let’s eat it as slowly as we can.

Co-Host Now it’s time to get on the bus. Everyone sing, “The Wheels on the Bus” with me.

Sing a couple verses of the song.

Host I think you are ready for our big day at the Train Station. Can you say, “Choo-choo” with lots of energy?

Engage 1Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2), Heart Balloons, Bag

Host and Co-Host enter.

Host Does Mia think that she has to make God love her? Do you think she has to do something special so God will love her?

Co-Host Do you think that God already loves Mia?

Host I think our Big Point teaches her, and us, something true about God that will help us have a great year. Let practice it,

Host I Am Loved, So I Can Love!

Co-Host Let’s think of some people who love us. Our families love us. Let’s pretend to give a big hug. My doggie loves me. Let’s pretend to bark like a tiny puppy dog. Can you stick out your tongue and pant like a doggie? Our Big Point isn’t talking about puppies. It’s talking about the One who loves us the most. Do you know who it is?

Host You’re right. The Big Point is about God. He loves us more than anyone. He loved us yesterday. He loves us today. Do you think He’ll love us tomorrow? (Pause) He will!

Co-Host Let’s play a fun game. We have some heart balloons. I think of love when I look at these hearts. We’re going to choose some Jr. Conductors to help us stuff this bag with as many hearts as we can. Ready? Go!

Have kids stuff the heart balloons in the bag. Have the other kids cheer them on.

Host Great job! God gives us so much love that He fills us up, just like this bag is full. There is not anything that you, I, or Mia have to do to make God love us. He already does.

Co-Host Since God loves us, do you think, Jr. Conductors, that God wants to help you have a great year at school or preschool?

Host He sure does. Let’s see if we can help Mia discover the Big Point, so she realizes she doesn’t have to worry.

Engage 2Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2), Beach Towel, Swimsuit, Deflated Beach Ball, Inflated Beach Ball, Heart Balloon

Host and Co-Host enter.

Host I love that Mia wants to help! I just wish she knew that she doesn’t have to do it to earn God’s love. He already loves her! Let’s practice the Big Point again,

Host I Am Loved, So I Can Love!

Co-Host Conductor Carl shared a verse with her from the Bible.

Co-Host 1 John 4:19 (NIrV) says, “We love because He loved us first.”

Host Let’s talk about before and after. If something comes before, that means it happens first. If something is after, then it happens later.

Co-Host Look at this first picture. What do you see? That kid is going to jump in the pool. Can you show me what it looks like when you swim? Have you ever made a giant splash in the pool?

Host (Show the swimsuit) Would you change into your swimsuit before or after jumping in the pool? (Pause) Before, otherwise your regular clothes would get all wet! (Show the beach towel) Would you use a towel to dry off before or after you jumped in the pool? (Pause) That’s right; you would use it after because you get all wet after you jump in.

Co-Host Let’s pretend to toss a beach ball to each other. (Show the deflated beach ball) Would you toss the beach ball before or after you filled it up with air? (Pause) After! It’s more fun when it bounces. Let’s bounce the ball in the air.

Bounce the inflated beach ball.

Host Thinking about our Big Verse. Are we only loved by God after we do something special or does He love us before that?

Co-Host That’s right, He loves us before! Because Jesus loves us, we can share His love with other people. You could do kind things for your friends at school or share kind words with them. So, Mia doesn’t have to help her friends to earn God’s love; instead, Mia can help her friends because God already loves her.

Host Exactly! I get love from God. (Show the heart balloon) and share that love with my friends. (Give the balloon the Co-Host) That’s a great reason to stand and worship God.

Big Story

Let’s repeat our Big Verse that tells us the truth about God. Repeat after me, “Jesus loved me first.” (Repeat 3x) Now I will take that verse and use it to pray. (Pray)

Engage 3Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2)

Host enters.

Host I’m glad that Mia learned that she is loved by God and is so special to Him. We don’t have to do anything to earn God’s love. He gives it away freely. And so can we! Let’s practice our Big Point,

Host I Am Loved, So I Can Love!

Co-Host Conductor Carl gave us a great idea for the Big Do.

Co-Host We can find a way to share God’s love with someone else this week at school. Your parents can do the same thing at their jobs. There are lots of ways to share God’s love.

Host Let’s play a fun game to help us think of some ways we can do that. Then you’ll have some ideas for the Big Do. Do you like to play matching games?

Co-Host We’re going to put some cards on the screen. You get to choose two of them and see if they match. Then remember where they are and try again.

Play the game on screen allowing different kids to try to make a match. If you can’t use a computer, then consider printing the pictures to play the matching game. Once a match has been made, describe how the picture teaches a way to share love.

Host You did a great job matching.

Co-Host Remember that God loves you, and I hope you have a great week showing love to your families and friends.

Host Let’s say our Big Point once more.

Host I Am Loved, So I Can Love!
