I Have Faith To Give!

Giving isn't about what's in your pockets; it's about the faith in your heart. Hannah offered her best gift to God, her baby boy before he was even conceived. Her story will inspire your kids to use their faith to give, too.

WelcomeMaterials: 2 overalls, 2 train hats, 2 handkerchiefs

Host: Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors ! I’m so glad that you came to visit us.

Co-host: Me too! I love it when our friends drop by to say, “Hello!” If you love seeing your friends at the Train Station, give me a big smile.

Host: You can give your friends other things, too, like a big thumbs up. Let’s do that.

Co-host: I like to give hugs. Let’s pretend to hug someone.

Host: Don’t forget a wave. Give someone a friendly wave.

Co-host: Do you know what else we can give? If we’re ready to have a fun day with Conductor Carl and his friends, we can give a big, “Choo-choo!”

Host: Let's stand and worship Jesus!

Engage 1Materials: Overalls, Train Hat, Handkerchief, Change Bag, Fake Money

Host: Jr. Conductors, why is Engineer Kelly worried?

Co-host: That’s right; she wants to give, but she doesn’t think that she can. Why does she think she can’t give something?

Host: Her pockets were empty. Do you have any money in your pockets?

Co-host: (Pulls out his/her pockets) Look at my pockets, Jr. Conductors. Are they full of money or empty like Engineer Kelly’s? (Pause) Yep, they’re empty. Do you think I can give?

Host: Let’s all nod our heads, “Yes.” We can give because of Jesus. He is the one who helps us. Look at this bag. (Show the change bag) I’ll have a friend come and look at it. Is it empty?

Co-host: It looks like my pockets.

Host: But when you have faith and believe in Jesus, He can give you all you need and make you able to give. Let’s check the bag once more. (Move the switch and pull out the fake money)

Co-host: There’s money in there now. Wow! That reminds me that we can all follow our Big Point and believe Jesus can help us. Let’s practice it together.

Engage 2

Host: I’m glad that Conductor Gordon was nearby to remind Engineer Kelly of our Big Point. Let’s stand and say the Big Point again. Let’s say it together. Put your hand by your ear,

Host: I Have Faith To Give!

Co-host: I liked the verse that Conductor Gordon shared, too. Let’s read it. The Big Verse is found in

Co-host: 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIrV), “We live by believing, not by seeing.” Do you think we’re supposed to keep our eyes closed all the time? Everyone stand up. Close your eyes and keep them closed tightly. Point to me without opening them.

Host: Open your eyes. Did you point at our friend? Close them again. Point to (Volunteer). Open your eyes. Did you find him/her? You can sit on your pockets.

Co-host: It’s hard to find something when you can’t see.

Host: That verse doesn’t mean we keep our eyes closed. It means that we believe Jesus can help us before we see the good things He wants to do.

Co-host: Can you think of some ways that Jesus helps us? (Allow for answers)

Host: Jesus can also help us give. We believe He’s helping us even before we see it. That’s how Engineer Kelly can give, even with empty pockets. Let’s stand and thank Jesus with a song.

Big StoryMaterials: Little girl to play Hannah, optional Bible costume for her; baby doll

Giving is so much fun! When we don’t have anything to give, we can ask God to help. God loves to help us give because He loves for us to help others. When we ask God for help, we know He will do it. God always keeps His promises and helps us. Let’s close our eyes and ask God to help us have something to give. (Pause) Now I’ll pray and talk to Jesus, too. (Pray)

Engage 3

Host: Do you think that God can help Engineer Kelly give? He sure can! Let’s say our Big Point again,

Host: I Have Faith To Give!

Co-host: Sometimes I’m not sure what to give.

Host: That’s okay because we have help. Who helps us give? (Pause) Jesus! We can talk to Jesus and ask Him what to give. What do we call it when we talk to Jesus?

Co-host: (Pause) Yes, we call it praying. We could pray about what Conductor Carl shared in the Big Do.

Co-host: Remember, he said to look for a jar around your house. Use that jar to collect money that you will use to give. It will start as an empty jar, but I believe that God will help you find ways to fill it up.

Host: I think so, too. Let’s look at some different gifts and talk about how the Jr. Conductors could give that gift.

Show the slides (money, a toy, love, groceries). With each gift idea, ask the Jr. Conductors questions about the gift. Could they give that? Where would they find it? What kind of that item would they like to give? Who could it help? Etc.

Co-host: I think we have lots of good ideas to get us started.

Host: We sure do. I’m excited to get my jar ready and start saving up my gift. We can all use our Big Point. Let’s say it together,

Host: I Have Faith To Give
