About

This one-year series, perfect for 4th-7th graders, is designed to engage families with fun games, exciting challenges, and Bible stories that teach about the love of Jesus.

Small Group Instructions

Section 01Materials: Bible (you may use age-appropriate versions for students or hopefully they have brought their own. Digital is okay too! This is at their fingertips all the time and they need to know how to use it.) Whiteboard

Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will understand the concept of forgiveness as taught in the Bible, its importance, and how to practice forgiveness in their lives based on biblical principles.

Begin the lesson by asking students if they are familiar with any stories or verses from the Bible that involve forgiveness. Write down their responses on the whiteboard. Explain that this lesson will explore what the Bible teaches about forgiveness.

Discuss the biblical definition of forgiveness, emphasizing that it involves pardoning or releasing someone from the consequences of their wrongdoing.

Sword drills are a fun way of getting students familiar with their Bible. Encourage everyone to participate and when you change the screen to a new Bible Verse make them wait until you say “Go” to look it up. The first one to the scripture stands up and starts reading. Feel free to hand out some kind of candy or prize to the winner each time. If the same student continues to beat the rest, choose the second person to find it. Encourage all kids to find it and read it for themselves.

Explore the concept of forgiveness as an essential part of the Christian faith.

Discuss the transformative power of forgiveness by sharing stories or examples from the Bible that demonstrate its impact on individuals and relationships. Emphasize that forgiveness is not only about letting go of anger but also about reconciliation and healing.

Discuss strategies for practicing forgiveness in accordance with biblical principles. Some key points to cover include: a. Praying for the strength to forgive. b. Seeking reconciliation when possible. c. Remembering God's forgiveness as a model. d. Letting go of grudges and bitterness.

Recap the main points of the lesson about forgiveness as taught in the Bible. Encourage students to consider how they can apply biblical forgiveness in their lives and relationships. Close the lesson with a brief prayer or reflection on forgiveness and its significance in the Christian faith.
