About

This one-year series, perfect for 4th-7th graders, is designed to engage families with fun games, exciting challenges, and Bible stories that teach about the love of Jesus.

Small Group Instructions

Section 01Materials: • Ball of Yarn • Paper and pens • A large bowl of water • Small stones or pebbles

To help students understand how acts of kindness can create positive ripple effects in their community.

Greet the students and open with a prayer.

Icebreaker: "Kindness Web"

• Have students sit in a circle.

• Start with a ball of yarn, holding onto the end and saying something kind about a student.

• Toss the ball to that student, who will hold onto a piece of the yarn, say something kind about another student, and toss the ball to them.

• Continue until a web of kindness connects everyone.

Discuss how these verses highlight the importance of being kind and the impact it has on ourselves and others.

Below are some optional activities should you have time. Materials will be needed.

Ripple Effect Activity (10 minutes)

• Gather around a large bowl of water.

• One by one, have students drop a small stone into the water and watch the ripples spread out.

• Explain that each act of kindness they perform is like the stone, creating ripples that can positively affect many people.

Kindness Mapping (15 minutes)

• Give each student a piece of paper and a pen.

• Ask them to draw a small circle in the middle and write their name in it.

• Have them draw lines out from the circle to other circles, writing names of people they interact with regularly (family, friends, teachers, etc.).

• In each circle, write one kind act they can do for that person. • Discuss how these small acts can create a ripple effect in their community.

• Have students share one kind act they plan to do from their kindness map.

Closing

• Close with a prayer, asking God to guide them in spreading kindness and to bless those who receive their kind acts.       • Challenge the students to come back next week ready to share their experiences and any ripple effects they noticed from their acts of kindness.
