Following Jesus Together is all about growing in faith through community. These resources—ranging from heartfelt testimonies to small group studies—are designed to help individuals connect, grow, and explore what it means to follow Jesus alongside others.
Take some time to talk as a group about how things are going in life.
Is there a part of Logan’s story that you can relate to?
Logan did not set out to seek God but accepted an invitation from his friend Adam to come and see what he was doing. In doing so, God made himself known. Has God ever made himself known to you when you at a time when you were not seeking Him?
When Logan felt God calling him, he did not hesitate to obey. He wanted to be baptized immediately before returning home because he feared the distractions of life would get in the way and he would put it off. Is there a current calling God has placed on your life that you feel you need to obey?
Read: Luke 19:1-10
What do you learn about Jesus in this passage?
What do you learn about people?
How do you see these same truths reflected in Logan's story?
We can and should seek after God, but ultimately, He is the one who finds us. The people were perplexed at Jesus’ choice of Zacchaeus. Some today may feel the same about his choice to use Logan. That is not for us to decide. If we are honest, most of us have a hard time understanding why God would choose to call us as well. What is important is that in both Logan and Zacchaeus’ cases they chose to answer when Jesus called. Our job is the same.
If you see God choosing to use someone you don’t consider “worthy”, withhold judgement and talk to the Lord about it.
Don’t let your own past or lack of qualifications stand in the way if you feel God is calling you. Answer the call.
