Host Welcome to the Lab! Who’s getting really excited for Christmas?

Co-Host Me!

Co-Host holds up his/her hands showing that they are attached by a finger trap.

Host What is that?

Co-Host This? I got these at a Christmas party this week, and I haven’t quite figured out how to rescue my fingers.

Host How do you eat, brush your teeth, do life?

Co-Host Necessity is the mother of invention. Actually, I’m really hungry.

Host Can someone help us out? How do you get your hands free from a finger trap? (Allow for answers)

Co-Host It worked. You saved me. Now I’m going to get breakfast.

Engage 1Materials: Lab Coat (2), Button, Giant Mousetrap

Co-Host Who thinks that Rusty may have just made a big mistake?

Host Have you ever created a mess so big you didn’t know how to fix it?

Co-Host I have…about five minutes ago.

(Co-Host holds up his/her hand. He/She is holding a giant mousetrap prop. This prop can be purchased online. One option available online is a cheeseboard decorated as a mousetrap. You can also use a regular size mousetrap but be careful!)

Co-Host Let’s just say that’s the last time I go near (Pastor’s name)’s cookie jar. Can I get some help?

Host Sure. That gives me an idea. Let’s play a game. We’re going to bring up an adult volunteer who will try to guess what you’re acting out. The clues will be on screen. Remember, just actions, no words or sounds. The category is people who save others.

Host There are many people out there who save us from problems, some that we even create ourselves.

Co-Host But at times we forgot the most important save-er, who we’ll see in our Big Point. We need a lab assistant to come up here and help us reveal the Big Point.

(Host and Co-Host choose a kid to volunteer.)

Co-Host We need you to help us count down from three. 3…2…1!

Co-Host Let’s all say it together, Jesus Is Our Savior!

Host That’s true. Christmas is a great reminder that Jesus came at Christmas to save us from a problem that we created. Let’s see if Rusty can find someone to help him.

Engage 2Materials: Lab Coat (2), Button, Plates, Toothpaste Tubes, Gloves, Wet Wipes

Host and Co-Host enter

Host Yep, I would say Rusty has made a big mess.

Co-Host I can’t believe he thought Hans Von Striker was telling the truth. Has anyone ever tricked you into believing something, and then that wrong thought created a problem?

(Interview a kid.)

Host That’s exactly what happened to Adam and Eve. Satan tricked them, which led to them creating a huge problem. Thankfully

Host Jesus Is Our Savior!

Co-Host Speaking of huge problems, let’s play a game to see who can clean up a mess the best. We have a line of plates, toothpaste, and gloves. You have 60 seconds to squeeze out all of the toothpaste and try to get as much back in the tube as you can.

Host That’s not easy. I think there’s still way more toothpaste on the plate than in the tube. It reminds me of why the Big Verse brings great joy.

(Host and Co-Host choose a kid to volunteer.)

Co-Host I need you to help us as we count down from three.

Co-Host Luke 2:11 (NIrV), “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you.”

Host Jesus is our Savior. He was the One that everyone in Israel was waiting to see. Unfortunately, many people missed it, but those who believed in Jesus found reasons to celebrate. Let’s stand and worship Jesus.

Big Story

This lesson presents God’s gift of salvation. Every church presents the Gospel with slight variations and nuances. Read through the steps before teaching. Present the Gospel in a way that is consistent with the scripture and God’s leading.

The first step to accepting this amazing gift is to say, “Yes.” If you have already said, “Yes” to Jesus’ gift, give me a thumbs up. Awesome! If you have never said, “Yes, I want Jesus to forgive me, be my best friend, and I will follow Him for the rest of my life,” then today is your day! I’d like everyone to close your eyes and bow your heads, so no one is distracted. If you’ve never said, “Yes” to Jesus before, and you want to say, “Yes” to Him right now and ask Him to forgive you, raise your hand. We’re going to pray altogether. Those of you who are already friends and followers of Jesus can join in, too. Repeat after me, and let’s pray...

Dear God, I know everyone needs a Savior, and I know I can’t save myself. Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died on the cross for my sins, and God raised You from the dead.

Right now, I say You are my Lord, my Savior, and the One who forgives me. Thank You, Jesus, that You are my best friend, because I’ve said “Yes” to You. Amen.

We’re so glad you said, “Yes” to Jesus. Please tell one of our adult volunteers so we can help you take the next step.

Co-Host God came through again with that great idea.

Host With the extra money from selling their old computers, Herman and Rusty will have plenty of money for the toy drive. Every day we get to experience the blessings that come from the truth that...

Host Jesus Is Our Savior

Co-Host We should talk about those. What are some of the blessings that Jesus brings us? Let’s choose an assistant to interview some of the other kids.

(Choose a kid to interview others.)

Co-Host This is definitely a reason to have great joy at Christmas.

Host I’d say it’s a reason to have great joy every other day, too. Make sure you are sharing that joy with this week's Big Do.
