Ark Kids Elementary: All Aboard

All Aboard Week 1: I Have Faith To Give!

Giving isn't about what's in your pockets; it's about the faith in your heart. Hannah offered her best gift to God, her baby boy before he was even conceived. Her story will inspire your kids to use their faith to give, too.

Host: Welcome to the Lab! Wait, why aren’t you wearing your lab coat?

Co-host: You know why. Today is the beginning of our new series…Aren’t you going to say its name?

**Host: ** No.

Co-host: C’mon. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it.

Host: Fine! Welcome to our new series, All Aboard.

Co-host: ALL ABOARD!

The Co-host dances and places a lei on the Host.

Host: That’s right; we’re climbing “All Aboard” God’s big plan by giving. We’re going to discover why giving matters. Stand up and tell someone the number one place you would love to sail to and get ready to worship.

  • **Host and Co-host enter. This engage uses a Gospel Illusion called a change bag. This can be purchased online from a number of illusion stores. It’s a simple bag that has a switch which changes between two pockets on the inside.Laflinmagicstore.com is a great source for illusion resources.

Co-host: I’m concerned about Rusty’s plan.

Host:: Why are Rusty, Ethel, and Slater worried? (Allow for answers) What do you think? Is it possible for them to give?

Co-host: I don’t think so. They have empty pockets.

Host: Actually, they aren’t completely empty.

Co-host: I forgot about the half-eaten Twizzler.

Host: No, they have something that everyone in this room has. We’ll discover that in our Big Point. We need a lab assistant to help us reveal it.

Host and Co-host choose a kid to volunteer.

Co-host: Press that button after we count down from three and then read the Big Point. 3…2…1!

Kid volunteer presses the button. Lights flash and the Big Point is revealed.

Co-host Let’s all say it together, I Have Faith To Give! What does this mean?

Host It means you can make a commitment to give even before you have it in your pocket. Take this bag. Examine the inside.

Show the change bag.

Co-host Looks empty to me. What do you think? (To the kid) How can you promise to give when it’s empty?

Host Because you have faith. You trust that when you make a commitment to give what God puts in your heart to give, He will make it happen.

Switch the lever on the change bag. Pull out the hidden money. Dismiss the volunteer.

Co-host Wow! That makes me want to climb…

Host All aboard?

Co-host ALL ABOARD!

  • Host and Co-host enter.

Host Does anyone else think that Rusty is not a genuine genie?

Co-host He thinks he needs three wishes just to be able to give.

Host That’s not true. There’s one important ingredient found in our Big Point,

Host I Have Faith To Give! What’s the special ingredient? Faith! Let’s choose an assistant to help us reveal the Big Verse.

  • Host and Co-host choose a kid to volunteer.

Co-host This verse is going to help us understand faith a bit better. I need you to hit the button as we count down from three, and then you’ll read the verse. 3, 2, 1!

  • Kid volunteer presses the button. Lights flash and the Big Verse is revealed.

  • Allow the child to read the Big Verse.

Co-host Can you really live by believing? I always thought the idea was that you only believe what you see.

Host Let’s play a game to test something out. It’s called Battleship.

Co-host Which makes sense because I’m the captain. We need some Navy music.

Host We’re going to choose different kids to pick where they launch the missile.

  • Host and Co-host choose different kids to pick the spot and reveal if it’s a hit or miss. If it’s a hit, tell the kids it’s a hit and have the kids make an explosion noise. If it’s a miss, have the kids shout “miss.” Co-host It’s hard to hit the battleship when you can’t see it. Doesn’t that prove my point?

Host Faith isn’t based on what we know. It’s based on God who…

    Co-host Knows the plan.

Host Exactly. Now imagine you’re playing Battleship, but this is the gameboard.

Co-host You’d score a hit every turn.

Host Living by faith means that we make decisions based on our trust in God. We believe He knows the plan, so we can do what God asks even before we see it. Let’s stand and worship God.

It’s not about what or how much you give. God doesn’t need our money, our stuff, or our time. He can make impossible things happen on His own. But God loves us so much that He wants us to be part of His big plan. It’s fun to get to be God’s partner. Even better, God also blesses us when we give. It’s just another way that our Heavenly Father is incredibly awesome. Let’s take a moment at our seats to talk to God. Ask Him to show you what He wants you to give. It might be giving extra time to help someone or sharing toys you have with less fortunate kids. Some of you may feel like God wants you to give extra offerings here at church. Whatever it is, trust God to help you give more than you ever thought possible. (Pause) Now I’ll pray over the whole group.

  • Host and Co-host enter.

Co-host I think praying is a way better choice than wishing on a plastic lamp.

Host I’m glad that Rusty, Ethel, and Slater are using our Big Point,

I Have Faith To Give!

Co-host Some kids don’t believe that they are capable of giving. Now, we all know that we can. I’m excited to use that faith to do the Big Do.

Co-host You guys will have fun filling up your jar with offerings that you can give.

Host On our own we might not be able to do that much, but our giving is based on what God can do. Trusting in Him can help you do things you never thought possible. I believe that you can fill that jar.

Co-host That gives me an idea. We should play a game that they play on cruise ships, limbo. How low can you go? Let’s see if you can go lower than you think.

  • Encourage the audience to cheer on the kids who participate. Use the energy of the room to get the kids to try to go low.

Host Great job! We can really give more than we thought possible when God is behind it.

Co-host Don’t forget our Big Point,

**I Have Faith to Give! **

Can we say it once more? ALL ABOARD! Let’s gather with our small groups.

Materials:
Small Group Leader
  • Gather the kids into small groups and discuss the following.

  1. How did Rusty try to solve the problem of having nothing to give? Did it work? What was his mistake?
  1. How did Hannah use her faith? What did she offer to give God? What did God do?
  1. What should you do before you give anything? Since we know certain things are true: that God wants us to give, wants to heal us, wants to help us, how can we use our faith before we actually see it happen?
  • (Set the jar in a visible place & every time you see it, thank God for helping you give; instead of being afraid of sickness or covid, thank God that you are healthy & for healing your family/friends who are sick,…)

  1. What did Herman tell us to do with our families in the Big Do?
Materials:

Welcome the Lab! I am excited to share a brand-new series with you. It’s called All Aboard. Why do we call it that? It’s because God wants us to climb all aboard His big plan for the world. There are lots of ways to do that, and one way we can all participate is by giving. That’s a truth we are going to discover more about today. Turn to someone nearby and shout, “All aboard!” Let’s get ready to worship!

We are digging into the Bible to understand how we can give. You may think it’s not possible for you to give because you’re just a kid. I have great news for you. We serve a God who can do impossible things. Our job is to believe. Let’s see if you guys can do something that may seem impossible with a game that people play on cruise ships. Those are the big boats that people climb aboard to sail to places around the world. This game’s called limbo. I need each Small Group leader to send up a representative to play this game. Let’s see which team can cheer them on the loudest. Which group thinks their team will win?

  • Have the kids play limbo, gradually lowering the stick each time until one kid remains.

Great job to our winner! (Award points) Let’s check in with Herman and Rusty and see if they will climb aboard God’s big plan.

Is anyone else concerned about Rusty’s plan? I didn’t think that I was the only one. Do you think it’s possible for Rusty, Ethel, and Slater to give? Let’s find out what our Big Point says. It will reveal the truth about how they can give with seemingly empty pockets. I’m going to choose a small group to count down and read the Big Point.

  • (Choose a group) Count down from three.

  • Allow the small group to countdown

  • Read the Big Point.

I Have Faith To Give! Our Big Point means you can make a commitment to give even before you have it in your pocket.

You may not physically be able to give anything, but you can trust God to help you give before you have it. Your small group leader is going to do an activity with you that’s all about faith.

Materials:
Small Group Leader

We’re going to try something called a trust fall. Everyone needs to choose a partner.

  • Pair up the kids

We’ll take turns falling. One of you will turn to face away from your teammate and gently fall backwards. Do you trust that your partner will catch you?

For younger groups you may consider having the kids fall towards the leader to ensure they do not fall. Do the trust fall a couple of times. Then switch up the teams as time allows.

That was a little scary. Do you think it was easier once you knew that your partner could and would catch you?

Facilitator

One of the biggest faith steps you can take is to give, and I’m not just talking about money. You can give away stuff you have, your time, or even something you’re good at. Giving doesn’t start with what’s in your pocket. It begins with a choice. You trust that when you make a commitment to give what God puts in your heart to give, He will make it happen. Let’s check in with the lab and see if they have figured this out.

Materials: Lab Coat, Blindfolds, Chair (4) and/or Orange Cone (10) and/or Inflatable Item (2)

Am I the only one that doesn’t think that Rusty is not a genuine genie? He thinks he needs three wishes to be able to give. He doesn’t. He needs faith, and faith isn’t wishing or hoping. Faith is based on the truth of who God is and what God has said. Let’s check out today’s Big Verse to see what the Bible says about faith. I’m going to choose one small group to count down and read our Big Verse. (Choose a group) Count down from three.

(Allow the small group to countdown.)

Big Verse 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIrV), says, “We live by believing, not by seeing.”

I need a small group leader to choose two participants from your small group to come on stage to play the next game. (Bring up the kids) or this game, one team member will be blindfolded and the other can see. We’ve setup an obstacle course on stage. Your job is to direct your blindfolded teammate around the obstacles as quickly as possible. Let’s see which team can do it the fastest.

  • Create an obstacle course using orange cones, chairs, or inflatable items. You can run all teams at the same time or allow them to take turns and time them.

Great job to our winners. Let’s take a moment in our small groups to talk about our Big Verse.

Small Group Leader
  • Discuss the following question. If time remains, talk about the obstacle course they just saw and how we trust God to do things that we cannot see.

Some people say seeing is believing, but the Bible says that faith is living by believing and not by seeing. How do we know we can trust God when we can’t see Him?

Facilitator

When God asks us to do something, He wants us to listen and obey, being confident that He is good and He knows best. Because of God’s goodness, we can have faith that God will provide when He asks us to give. The good news is that God is always willing to help us live out our Big Point,

I Have Faith To Give! Let’s check out a story about a woman in the Bible who chose to give by faith.

Hannah didn’t have a kid when she made her promise to God , but she didn’t let that stop her from making the offer. She trusted God to take care of the hard part and she just believed . It’s fun to follow our Big Point,

I Have Faith To Give! Some kids don’t believe that they are capable of giving. Now we know we all can! I’m excited to use that faith to do the Big Do.

You guys will have fun filling up your jar with offerings you can give. Maybe in your prayer time God gave you an idea of what use that money for. If not, I trust that He will help you.
