The current state of the world is incredibly challenging, especially for the children in our ministries who are growing up in a society where navigating moral and logical inconsistencies has become increasingly difficult. However, it's important to note that they are not alone in facing such circumstances. Drawing inspiration from the story of Daniel and his friends, who were uprooted from their homes and thrust into an unfamiliar world, we can impart timeless principles to help our children understand that it is indeed possible to live with integrity and righteousness even in a world that seems upside down.

In the midst of a challenging and confusing world, this message draws from the life of Daniel to teach kids enduring principles, emphasizing that with God's guidance, it's possible to uphold righteousness and live right-side-up in an upside-down world.

**Host** and **Co-Host** enter, dressed in overalls with handkerchiefs and train hats. The **Co-Host**’s hat is upside down.



**Host**

Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors!  Look at our friend. Do you notice something strange about him/her?



**Co-Host**

Did I wear my silly overalls today? No. Did I accidentally wear a clown nose? No. What looks strange? (Pause) Oh, my hat is upside down. (Fixes hat) I’m sure that looked silly.



**Host**

Jr. Conductors, let’s see if you can guess what is in each picture on the screen. It’ll be a little hard because they are all upside down. 







Show the pictures and have the kids guess.

**Co-Host**

It’s easier to guess the picture when they are turned the right way.

**Host**

That is true. Today we will discover that, although our world can be a very 

upside down place, with God’s help, we can live the right way, even if others make a wrong choice.

Oh dear, they all played different songs. They weren’t following the conductor. Our Big Point teaches us who we should follow. Let’s stand and practice the Big Point again,

**I Will Go God’s Way!**

**Co-Host**

We want to do the kinds of things that God asks us to do. He wants us to make wise choices and follow His big plan.

**Host**

Not everyone listens to God. Let’s all say, “Oh no!” That’s sad. If other people make wrong choices, does that mean we have to make wrong choices, too?

**Co-Host**

We can follow God, even if other people don’t follow God. Let’s practice that now. Do you know the song “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star?”

**Host**

Of course, we do! Let’s practice singing it together.

**Co-Host**

Good job. Now let’s sing it again, but this time you’ll hear another song while we sing. That could be really confusing.

**Host**

Let’s see if we can keep singing, “Twinkle, Twinkle,” even while the other song plays.

Sing the song while a different song plays on the video.

You did a great job singing together.

Going God’s way means that we choose to follow God, even if things seem mixed up. We don’t have to stop following God just because others make wrong choices. Let’s see if Conductor Carl’s band can learn to play together.

At least they’re seeing how important it is to follow Conductor Carl. It’s also important for us to follow Jesus. Let’s practice singing the Big Point again,

1 Corinthians 11:1 (NIrV) says, “Follow my example, just as I follow the example of Christ.”

Following Jesus, doing and saying the kinds of things He did, is always the best thing for us. It’s also a good idea to listen to people who copy Jesus.



**Co-Host**

Let’s play a copycat game. I will do something, and you can try to copy it. Let’s see if you can copy exactly what you see me do.





Play a copycat game doing different actions and sounds. Use lots of energy and movement. You can have them copy animal sounds, playing instruments, dance movement, pretending to be an animal. Announce each movement or sound before you do it, so the kids will know what is coming next. Have lots of fun with this activity.

That was lots of fun. You did a good job copying. We want to copy Jesus, just like you copied us. Do you know where we can learn about things that Jesus did?



**Co-Host**

Yes, in the Bible. The Bible is God’s Word, and it teaches us about Jesus. By reading the Bible, we can learn how to copy Jesus.



**Host**

That helps us go God’s way, even when others act very mixed up. God’s Word helped a guy named Daniel when he moved to a really mixed up city.

Before we hear that story from the Bible, let’s stand and worship our good God.

That’s what Daniel did in our Big Story. He lived in a city where people didn’t love God, but Daniel kept following God.

You can tell your family about what you learned about Daniel when you do the Big Do this week.

Play a game of Follow The Leader and talk about why it’s important to follower our leader, Jesus.



**Co-Host**

If someone tells you to stop (Show the stop sign) praying to God, should you stop or go (Show the go sign) on praying? 



**Host**

Yeah, you we always want to keep on talking to God. If you see kids not 

listening to the teacher, should you go (Show the go sign) and do the same thing or stop (Show the stop sign) and listen? 



**Co-Host**

Listening to the teacher is always a wise choice. If someone tells you to stop (Show the stop sign) going to church, should you stop or keep on going (Show the go sign) to church? 



**Host**

God wants us to keep coming to church. If you hear someone using mean words, should you go (Show the go sign) and say the same words or stop (Show the stop sign) and use kind words instead? 



**Co-Host**

We always want our words to be kind. If someone tells you to stop (Show the stop sign) listening to God, should you stop doing what God says or go (Show the go sign) on following Jesus?

Good job. It’s important to know when to stop and when to go. Let’s say our Big Point once more, 

Big Review

- If you could play an instrument, which one would you like to play? Let’s pretend to play our instruments. Who played in a band today? **Engineer Courtney, Engineer Kelly, and Farmer Faith** Why did their band not sound good? **They didn’t follow the leader**

- See if you can make the same sounds as me. (Make some different animal or machine sounds) You did a good job copying me. 1 Corinthians 11:1 (NIrV) says, “Follow my example, just as I follow the example of (Bad guys / **Christ**).”

- If you could travel somewhere far away, would you fly to the moon? Would you swim in the ocean? In our Big Story, who had to move to a new city? **Daniel** Did the people in this new city love God? **No**

- What kinds of vegetables do you like to eat? What kinds do you not 
like? Let’s pretend to eat some broccoli. What did Daniel ask permission to eat and drink instead of the king’s food? **Vegetables and water** Did God help Daniel become healthy or sick after eating the vegetables? **Healthy**

- What did Conductor Carl tell us to do in the Big Do? **Play a game of follow the leader and talk about why we should follower our leader, Jesus**

Small Group Split

Begin by splitting the kids into the desired number of small groups. Small Group Leaders, take a few moments to welcome your group. Afterwards, go over the rules of the room and talk about the positive reinforcement tool. 



I’m so glad to see you, Jr. Conductors. We always have a great time at the Train Station together. Everyone, say, “Choo-choo!” 



Let’s count it down with Conductor Carl! 

Icebreaker

Hi, Jr. Conductors! I am so glad we are at the Train Station together. Today we 

get to have fun discovering how we can follow Jesus. When we follow Him closely, it is kind of like being in the army. Soldiers in an army have to follow their leader and do exactly what he or she says. Let’s sing a fun song about being in God’s army and saying, “Yes” to what He says

Play I’m In The Lord’s Army By Kids Praise Co.

 Teach the kids simple motions to “I’m In The Lord’s Army,” and then play the song and do the motions together. 





That was fun! You can have a seat on your pockets. Following Jesus helps us live the right way in an upside down world. Today Conductor Carl’s friends are learning how important it is to follow the right leader. Everyone, turn on your listening ears!    





The Train Station band did not sound good. They need some help to fix their music. I think the Big Point will help them. Let’s practice it together, 



**I Will Go God’s Way!**



God knows exactly what we can do to make life good for us and those around us. That is why we want to follow Him. When He says, “Go!” we go, and when He says, “Stop!” we stop! You get to practice going and stopping in your group with some instruments, just like our friends at the Train Station. Everyone, turn quietly to your Small Group Leader to find out when you can play an instrument!   



For this engage, use the toy instruments to give the kids an opportunity to practice listening. Before you give the toys, explain that they will play their instrument when you give them a thumbs up, but when you put your hands up in a “Stop” motion, they must stop playing. Tell them that if they all do it well, at the end you will give them a sticker. Play a few rounds, and when time is up, give everyone a sticker and collect the toys. 



Small Group Leader

I can’t wait to hear what the Train Station band sounds like when they follow Conductor Carl. It’s important to follow a leader so we can do things the right way. That is what our Big Point is about. Let’s sing it again, 



Conductor Carl helped his friends by telling them our Big Verse. 1 Corinthians 1:11 (NIrV) says, “Follow my example, just as I follow the example of Christ.” It’s a wise idea to follow a good leader. Jesus is the best leader! When we follow Jesus, He shows us how to love and help others. It’s a wise idea to follow other people who follow Jesus, too. 



Let’s have fun following someone right now. Everyone, turn to your Small Group Leader to make something special.

For this engage, show the kids how to make a simple playdough shape. Have them follow along and make their own. Some examples: an octopus, a heart, a turtle. 



First, explain that you will give them some playdough and that their job is to follow along and make what you make. Next, pass out the playdough and have them follow along while you explain what to do and show them. When you are done, the kids could either pass the playdough back to you, or you can let them take it home.  



Did everyone follow your leader and make something cool? That’s awesome! 

It’s time to listen to a true story from the Bible about a man named Daniel who followed God. Remember, let’s all turn on our listening ears, so we don’t miss anything. 



It’s a wise choice to tell God that you will follow Him, just like our Big Verse says. Let’s take a moment to do that now. Everyone, bow your head and close your eyes. Quietly tell God “I will follow You.” (Repeat 2 more times) I know God heard you, and it made Him happy when you told Him that. Now I will pray. (Pray over the kids)





Closing

The band sounded so good when they all followed Conductor Carl! It was nice to hear such pretty music. They learned to follow, just like Daniel in our Big Story. You can tell your family about Daniel when you do this week’s Big Do. 







Play a game of Follow The Leader and talk about why Jesus is such a good example. Let’s sing our Big Point one last time,
