Engineer Courtney and Farmer Faith were not happy when Mr. Wiggins pushed them out of the line. He believes that he is more important than anyone else. Good thing Chef Bananas told our friends the truth: that we are all special to God because He made us. Sometimes people say mean things, like Mr. Wiggins, and you may wonder if what they say is true. God made each one of us so special. The Bible tells us that we are important to God; we are equal in his eyes and He loves us.

**Host**

Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors!  



**Co-Host**

It’s so much fun when our friends drop by to visit. When my friends come over, I like to play games. Would you like to play one now?



**Host**

This is a fun game. Our friend, Engineer (**Co-Host**), will pretend to be an animal. Your job is to guess which animal he/she is pretending to be. But our friend won’t make any sounds.





Have the **Co-Host** play charades and allow the kids to guess. Suggestions: monkey, dog, fish, frog, turtle.





**Co-Host**

You did a great job guessing who I was pretending to be.





**Host**

Today we will hear about a special book that tells us true things about ourselves. 

Our Big Point will be very helpful to you. Let’s check in with our friends at the station. Give us a big, “Choo-choo!”

It can be purchased online at vendors like [www.carnivalmirror.com](www.carnivalmirror.com) or [www.orientaltrading.com.](www.orientaltrading.com.) As an alternative, you could use a phone app to distort the image either live or by taking a picture ahead of time and then showing the picture.

Mia looked like she had lots of fun on the Ferris wheel once she opened her eyes.



**Host**

She did, but I don’t think that Engineer Courtney and Farmer Faith had fun when Mr. Wiggins pushed them out of line. I think they needed to hear the Big Point. Let’s stand and practice the Big Point again,

**The Bible Tells Me Who I Am!**



**Co-Host**

Sometimes people say mean things, like Mr. Wiggins, and you may wonder if what they say is true.



**Host**

It reminds me of this funhouse mirror. (Set out the mirror) A regular mirror shows you what you look like but watch what happens when I look in this mirror.



Step in front of the mirror. You may need to bring the mirror to the front of the stage or turn it each time to face that portion of the audience.



**Co-Host**

Does that picture in the mirror look silly? Would you like to see yourself in the 

mirror? Let’s choose some Jr. Conductors to come and look in the mirror.



Choose kids to view themselves in the mirror. If time/space permits, allow all kids to view themselves.



**Host**

If you looked at a silly mirror, like this one, and thought that is what you really looked like, you might not feel very good about yourself. That’s why you need a real mirror to show you what you really look like.



**Co-Host**

The Bible tells us true things about ourselves. It tells us how much God loves us, and how He created us. It tells us that we’re important to God.



**Host**

If someone says that you aren’t loved or important, then you can remember what the Bible says and know that person isn’t telling the truth.



**Co-Host**

Maybe we can share that with Farmer Faith and Engineer Courtney.

Chef Bananas is right. I think that they are special because God made them.



**Host**

That’s true. Owning a hotel, like Mr. Wiggins does, doesn’t make someone more important. We all are valuable to God. Let’s practice singing the Big Point again, 



**Host**

I like the verse that Engineer Kelly shared. 



**Co-Host**

1 Peter 2:9 says (NIrV), “You are God’s special treasure.” 



**Host**

Do any of you like to color in coloring books? Me too. Let’s pretend to color with crayons. (**Co-Host**) and I should color this page 



**Host**

Can you give us some ideas of what colors we should use? Pretend to color your coloring page with us.

Use the crayons to color a few small bits of the picture. The coloring sheets should be mostly colored in before service.







**Co-Host**

(As he/she colors) Do you ever give away your coloring pages? Who do you give them to? (Pause) That sounds like a good idea. Do you think my mom would like my picture? 



**Host**

I think we’re finished. Let’s show the Jr. Conductors our pictures. Look at our pictures. 





Show the coloring pages to the kids. The **Host's** page is perfectly colored in. The **Co-Host's** page looks nice, but it isn’t perfect. Some of the lines have been crossed and the colors are unevenly filled in.



**Co-Host**

Oh no, this is terrible. My mommy will not like my picture. Your picture is so much better. Jr. Conductors, do you see how his/her picture has all of the colors filled in? Look at mine. Some of the crayon jumped over the lines.



**Host**

I don’t think your picture is bad. Is your mommy the same as my mommy? No. Jr. Conductors, do you think that his/her mommy will like my picture or his/her picture the most? I agree. I think that she will love your picture because you belong to her. She loves you, and that’s what makes it special.



**Co-Host**

So, my picture is important just like it is. That’s like us. We are important to God just like we are because He created us and loves us. 



**Host**

That’s right. We are God’s treasure, which means He thinks we’re valuable. Let’s stand and worship God.

You can read the Bible, and you can use what you read to pray. Let’s use our Big Verse to pray and talk to God. Repeat after me. “God, I am so thankful that I am Your special treasure.” (Repeat 2x) The Bible is God’s Word. It’s true, and it is wise to remind yourself of what God says. Let’s stand and worship God.

Mr. Wiggins was not happy when Conductor Carl made him go to the back of the line. Maybe next time he will be nicer to others at the Train Station.

I’m glad that Farmer Faith and Engineer Courtney got to ride the rides. Let’s all

John the Baptist knew who he was. He didn’t have to pretend to be someone else. He did exactly what God wanted him to do, and God loved John very much.



**Host**

You can tell your family about John the Baptist when you do the Big Do this week. 



**Host**

Choose a nickname for everyone in your family, but make sure to choose one that will make them feel like a special treasure.



**Co-Host**

I like being called a special treasure. Reading the Bible helps us think true thoughts about ourselves.



**Host**

Do you like to play with playdough? Let’s choose a friend to help us play with some.





Choose a child or several kids to help you.

**Co-Host**

Playdough is fun because you can squish it into lots of shapes. Pretend to squish some in your fingers. I have some playdough molds that my helper is going to use to make the playdough into fun shapes. See if you can guess what we make.



Use several molds to compress the playdough into different shapes. Show them to the kids and have them guess.





**Host**

We don’t want to let anyone’s words squish our thoughts with untrue words. (Squish the playdough) Instead, we can read the Bible and let God’s true words help us. (Remold the playdough) Let’s say our Big Point once more,

- Hold your arms in the air and pretend that you are riding in a roller coaster that’s going fast. Say, “Wheee!” Pretend to sway from side to side as the roller coaster moves. Who was sad at the fair today? **Engineer Courtney, Farmer Faith** Why were they upset? **Mr. Wiggins said they weren’t important**

- Let’s talk silly like pirates. Can you say, “Argh,” “Shiver me timbers,” 
and “Land ho!” Those are funny. 1 Peter 2:9 (NIrV), “You are God’s special ______.”

- Pretend to eat some sticky, delicious honey. Oops, it’s all over my fingers. Now pretend to eat a bug. Crunch. Crunch. Who ate bugs and honey in our story? **John the Baptist** Did God have a special job for John to do? **Yes** Was John important to God even though he didn’t get to do Jesus’ job? **Yes**

- Pretend to flip pages in a book. Turn them slowly. Now turn them really quickly. If someone said that you weren’t important or special to God, would that be true? **No** How do you know that you are special to God? **Because the Bible’s true words say so**
- What did Conductor Carl tell us to do in the Big Do? **Choose a nickname for everyone in your family**

Begin by splitting the kids into the desired number of small groups. Small Group Leaders, take a few moments to welcome your group. Afterwards, go over the rules of the room and talk about the positive reinforcement tool.

Engage 2 prep: Prior to class, cut out 3 inch by 3 inch squares of mylar for the kids to attach to the activity using tape or buy mylar with adhesive on the back. This can be purchased on Amazon.

Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! We always have a great time when we come together. Let’s learn more about our friends. How many boys are in our class? Raise your hand if you are a boy. Wow! Now let’s see how many girls. Awesome! What about 4 year olds, can you raise your hands? 5 year olds? 6 year olds? That is so cool! It’s fun to learn more about our friends. There is a special book that tells us true things about ourselves. I bet Conductor Carl knows about it. Everyone, say, “Choo-choo!” 

Jr. Conductors, have you ever been on a treasure hunt before? It’s lots of fun to find special things. I bet you are great at finding stuff. Will you help me find some things in this picture? 





Ask the kids to help you find a few things in the picture: watermelon, bicycle, cat in a tree, basket. Then, at the end, ask them to find the special treasure, Conductor Carl.  







You guys found Conductor Carl! Good job! There is a special book that tells us we are God’s special treasures. Let’s go visit Conductor Carl right now and find out which book it is.

**The Bible Tells Me Who I Am!**



When someone says mean things to us, we might wonder if they are true. That is when the Bible can help us. It tells us what is true about ourselves. The Bible tells us that we are important to God and He loves us. Let’s play dress up in your small group to remind you that God loves you so much!       









Lay out the props for the kids and let them dress up. As 

they dress up, talk to them about how God loves us just like we are. We don’t have to change what we look like or who we are for God to love us. At the end, take the props back and put them away.

He thinks we are special! In your small group, you get to color a picture that you can take home. When you show your grown-ups, be sure to share with them what God thinks about you!  





Pass out the activity sheet and mylar square and help the kids attach it to the inside of the mirror. Then let the kids color their picture and help write their name on the bottom. If they aren’t finished when it is time for the story, they can quietly finish while the story is playing. 









God made each one of us so special! It’s time to listen to a true story from the Bible about someone who knew what God said about him. Remember, there is no going to the bathroom during this part. Turn your listening ears on!

You can read the Bible and you can use what you read to pray. Let’s use our Big Verse to pray and talk to God. It’s a wise choice to remind yourself of what God says. 





I hope Mr. Wiggins makes a change and decides to be nicer to our Train Station friends. And I am glad that Farmer Faith and Engineer Courtney learned not to believe the things he said because they were not true. They discovered the truth of our Big Point, just like John the Baptist in our story. You can tell your family about John the Baptist when you do the Big Do this week. 









Choose a nickname for everyone in your family, and make sure all the nicknames make your family feel like special treasures. Let’s say our Big Point one last time,
