Host Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors!

Co-Host Today we’re celebrating something really fun.

Host Have you ever seen football on TV?

Co-Host I love watching football games! It does have a funny looking ball, though.

(Show the rubber foot. The Co-Host tries to play football with it.)

Host Wait a second. Is that what a football looks like? (Pause) No, the ball doesn’t look like a foot. It looks like this.

(Show the football.)

Co-Host I’ve seen that on TV. They run while holding the ball. They have to run a long way.

Host When they run the ball all the way to the end, they score a touchdown. The football players get excited when they score. They sometimes even do touchdown dances.

Co-Host That sounds like fun. Let’s play some music and pretend to do a touchdown dance. Great job! Let’s get ready for a fun Super Bowl Sunday at the Train Station with a big, “Choo-choo!”

Host I hope Conductor Carl can get everything ready for the big party. There are so many people coming to the Train Station to watch the big game.

Co-Host He seems really busy. We have a lot to do, too. But first let’s practice the Big Point. Put your hands by your ear.

Co-Host I’m Part of God’s Team!

Host Do you know what a team is, Jr. Conductors? It’s a group of people who work together and help each other do something.

Co-Host Our families are teams. All of us Train Station engineers are a team, and our church is a big team, too.

Host Does this puzzle look finished? (Pause) No, there is a piece missing. Let’s see if we can figure out which piece fits best.

(If your class size permits, you could substitute a physical puzzle that the kids can try to put together and identify the pieces.)

Co-Host Look at the pieces. (Point to each one) Does this piece seem like it fits the puzzle? (Repeat through the remaining pieces on the graphic) You found the right piece.

Co-Host Good job! Look at the picture now. I like it much better with all of the pieces.

Host Our teams are better when everyone works together. Let’s point to all of our friends. Try to point to as many people as you can. Go!

Co-Host Look at all of these people. They can all be part of God’s team. God wants everyone on His team. I’m glad we get to be on a team with God.

Co-Host Conductor Carl is trying to get everything ready by himself. Do you think he needs help? It sure does seem like it. Maybe we could be Conductor Carl’s helpers.

A great way to help him is to remind him of the Big Point. Let’s practice it again.

Co-Host I’m Part Of God’s Team!

Co-Host Are some people fast enough, or strong enough, or smart enough that they do not need a team?

Host Well, let’s think of a football team. Does everyone on the football team throw the ball? Let’s pretend to throw a football. No, only one does. Does everyone catch the ball? Let’s hold up our hands and pretend to catch a ball. No, only some of the players. Does everyone on the team run with ball? Let’s stand and pretend to run fast. No, only some run.

Co-Host Everyone needs a team and everyone on a team has a job to do. Are some people on the team more important than others?

Host Let’s see what the Bible says about God’s team.

Host 1 Corinthians 3:9 (NIrV) says, “We work together to serve God.”

Co-Host That means me, you, and all of the Jr. Conductors are important big helpers to God.

Host It’d be fun to play a game and practice working together. I have some bricks. Let’s use them to build a tall tower.

Co-Host Do only the teachers get to build it?

Host No, we’re going to let the Jr. Conductors take turns putting one brick on the tower.

(Allow different kids to place bricks on the tower.)

Co-Host Wait, it’s too tall for the Jr. Conductors. Does that mean we’re finished?

Host We could let one of our other engineers help.

(Choose an adult to place more bricks.)

Co-Host Everyone worked together to build a tower.

Host We can work together to do good things for God, too. Let’s stand up and sing a worship song to Jesus.

Jesus doesn’t make us join His team. He lets us choose to be on His team. It’s a wise choice to say, “Yes” to being on Jesus’ team. I’m thankful that Jesus wants us to be part of His family. Let’s pray and talk to Jesus. You can quietly talk to Him and tell Jesus that you want to be on His team. Do that now. (Pause) I’ll pray for us.

Host Conductor Carl made a great choice by asking his friends to help him. Chef Bananas can make the food, Engineer Kelly can help decorate, and Conductor Gordon is really good at making people feel welcome.

Co-Host Working with a team is much more fun than doing everything by yourself.

Host I thought of another way that we can be good teammates on God’s team. We can cheer for our friends. Let’s practice that now and say, “Yay!” Cheering helps the friends on our team feel happy and loved.

Co-Host That’s why people cheer for their team when they watch a game. Why don’t we play a game where we all practice cheering?

Host I like that idea. I’ll throw a plastic football to one of the Jr. Conductors. Guess what – you’ll each get one of these when you leave! Let’s all say, “Yay!” When our friend catches the ball, we can all cheer.

(Play the game. Encourage the kids to cheer loudly.)

Co-Host When I see my friends being God’s helpers, I’m going to cheer for them, too.

Host That’s a great idea. If we all work together, we can do great things for God. Let’s say the Big Point,

Host I’m Part Of God’s Team!

  1. Let’s Practice our Big Point again. Hmm, did our Big Point say I am Part Of God’s Team! or I’m Not Part Of God’s Team?

  2. Let’s count to four using our fingers. Let’s count to four using our hands and feet. Let’s count to four using our arms and legs. Let’s blink four times. Why were four friends trying to meet Jesus? They wanted Jesus to heal their friend.

  3. Stand up. Let’s walk in place as silly as we can. (Make up different silly movements) What was wrong with the sick man? He couldn’t walk

  4. Let’s pretend to climb some really tall stairs. Climb higher and higher. How high are we? Let’s go higher. How did the four friends get the sick man to Jesus? They lowered him through the roof

  5. Let’s play a game of freeze dance. I’ll play music but when I say freeze you have to lay down of the floor. (Play several times) What happened to the man that couldn’t walk? Jesus healed him.

  6. What does our Big Verse say? 1 Corinthians 3:9 (NIrV), “We work ________ to serve God.” a. Together b. Alone
