I Can Do The Right Thing

Join Conductor Carl and his friends as they lead your kids on an adventure through God’s word. These imaginative and engaging lessons will have your early childhood kids and volunteers loving every minute of their time at the Train Station. Included are lessons for Kindergarten-3s, 2-year-olds and a story for babies and toddlers. Lessons include videos, graphics, coloring sheets, and both large and small group lessons. The junior lessons tie directly with the corresponding elementary lesson.

Summer to the Max

**Series Note**



Each Summer to the Max lesson incorporates a special venue into the service. Adding a venue allows the summer schedule to change while keeping the focus on Biblical truth. Venues can be done during the first 30 minutes of service or final 30 minutes of service. If you are also utilizing Summer to the Max Junior lessons, consider keeping one venue at the beginning and one at the end. That will keep costs down by allowing both groups to enjoy the same venue. Each lesson offers multiple venue options at different price points to accommodate your budget. Promoting the venues ahead of time will build excitement for Summer to the Max!





**Venue Ideas**



Choose one of the following venue options or create your own. These venues connect kids to the story of Moses’ parents' decision to do things God's way.



**Float the Boat and/or Will it Float?**

Split the kids into groups and distribute materials to see if they can create their own boat. Use can use paper, cardstock, or carboard along with tape or other adhesives. See which team’s boat floats the longest. For added fun you can play “Will it Float?” with different items and have the kids guess which will float.

**Moses Craft**

Purchase a Moses themed craft and have each child create one. You can also give them materials such as paper or flexible PVC board and have the kids weave their own tiny “ark” for Moses.

**Escape from Egypt**

Have a movie moment and show a movie featuring the Life of Moses. It could be a portion of the “Prince of Egypt” or another movie such as Superbook or VeggiTales. Serve fresh popcorn as a snack.

Another option is to do a Moses or Egyptian themed Escape Room. Printable escape rooms can be purchased on Etsy or from lockpaperscissors.co. Purchasing an Escape Room may require edits since some are not Biblically related. Add to the experience by decorating the room and using physical puzzles and obstacle courses.

Welcome to Summer To The Max! We’ve had so much fun this summer. It has already gone “to the max!” We’ve learned so much about how to follow Jesus, and there’s still so much more to discover. But first let's worship!

Each week we hear a Big Point that helps us discover a different way to live to the max for God. Let’s listen to today’s Big Point,

**Co-Host**

**I Can Do The Right Thing!**

**Host**

Let’s make up some motions to do as we sing the song. When we say “I can do,” use your thumb to point to yourself. When we say, “the Right Thing” give two big thumbs up in front of you. Let’s sing it a few times, so we can practice the motions.

Repeat a few times, so the kids can practice the motions.

**Co-Host**

I know how we can follow the Big Point. Everyone, stand up. I’m going to turn and face away from you. I want you to copy exactly what I do. I will only use my right hand. (Place the foam hand on your right hand and turn around, so the kids can easily copy your right-hand movements) Let’s see if we can only do things with our right hands.

Lead the kids in doing different motions with only the right hand such as waving, pointing, touching your head, touching your feet, etc.

**Co-Host**

Good job! You can sit down. Did we do a good job of following the Big Point?

**Host**

You did a good job using your right hand, but that’s not what we’re talking about today. Doing the right thing means doing what God wants you to do. We can make that choice, even when other people choose to do the wrong thing.

Engage 2

**Host** and **Co-Host** enter. For this Engage, set up a simple obstacle course on stage. You could use cones, an agility ladder, small hurdles, inflatable barriers, hula hoops, etc. to create a course that the kids will maneuver. 



**Co-Host**

Do you think that God wants us to make right choices or wrong choices? That’s right; God wants us to follow the Big Point. Let’s practice it again with our motions. 

**Co-Host**

**I Can Do The Right Thing!**



**Host**

Let’s see what the Bible says in our Big Verse. 

**Host**

2 Thessalonians 3:13 (NIrV), “Brothers and sisters, don’t ever get tired of doing what is good.” 



**Co-Host**

Let’s see if some of our friends can play a game and keep going without getting too tired or quitting.



**Host**

We’ve set up an obstacle course on stage and chosen two friends to help us. This is how they will run the course.





The **Host** or **Co-Host** demonstrates the obstacle course. 

**Co-Host**

Let’s see if our friends can run through the course five times without stopping. We can use our fingers to count each time.





The **Host** will help the kids run through the course and remember the different steps to run, while the **Co-Host** counts with the audience.





**Host**

Whew! You did a good job of not stopping. Sometimes you might get tired of making wise choices. Many kids get tired of obeying their parents or not throwing fits or tired of not taking a treat when they really want one. 



**Co-Host**

Even when we feel tired of doing those things, should we stop doing the right thing or keep on doing the right thing? (Pause) That’s right; we keep doing the right thing.



**Host**

Doing the right thing is how we follow Jesus and help others. Let’s stand and worship Jesus!







Big Story

**Host**

Moses’ parents did the right thing, and we can make that same choice. Let’s use our Big Verse to pray and talk to Jesus. “Jesus, please help me to never get tired of doing good.” (Repeat 2x) I’m glad that Jesus can help us follow our Big Point.





**Co-Host**

The Bible says in Proverbs 3:27,

**Co-Host**

“Don’t hold back when you can help.” Doing the right thing means helping when you have the power to do it. 



**Host**

We may not all be able to help the same way, but everyone can give something. (Explain the giving project)

**Host**

Let’s all practice our Big Point again, 

**Host**

**I Can Do The Right Thing!**



**Co-Host**

I’m glad that Moses’ parents didn’t listen to the king’s evil rule. They obeyed God and did what was right.



**Host**

You can tell your family about Moses’ parents when you do the Big Do this week. 

**Host**

Choose a helpful task to do for someone else, and don’t stop until the job is done.



**Co-Host**

Let’s practice being helpful right now. We’re going to dump lots of paper on you guys. We want you to help us clean it up by tossing the papers back to us on stage. Let’s see if we can clean up the whole floor where you are sitting.



**Host**

We have some friends on stage who will help us bag them up. On your mark, get set, go! 





Play the game and have the kids toss the paper wads up on to the stage. Have volunteers, along with the teachers, bag the wads of paper up. Play a fun song, such as the clean-up song.









**Host**

You did a great good job. It’s always the right choice to listen to God and do what He wants us to do. That’s how we can help lots of people. Let’s say our Big Point once more,

 - Stand up. Let’s see how long we can walk in place. (Walk) Now run in place. (Run) Hop up and down (Hop) Now, stop. Whew, you can sit down. 2 Thessalonians 3:13 (NIrV), “Brothers and sisters, don’t ever get tired of doing what is _____.”
