Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I’m so glad that you came by for a visit.

Co-Host

Me, too! I love getting to see all my friends at the Train Station. Jr. Conductors, how do you show your family that you love them?

Host

That’s a good question. Let’s think of some ways.

Help the kids suggest ways to show love such as a hug, a kiss on the cheek, a smile, helping, sharing, etc. Have the kids act out each suggestion.

Co-Host

There are lots of ways to show love. Let’s play a game! In this game, you must show love to win. We’re going to choose some Jr. Conductors to play.

Choose 3 or 4 kids to play the game.

Host

Here’s how you guys can win: each Jr. Conductor will pick up a stuffed animal and give it a big hug. Keep hugging while you walk to where (Co-Host) is standing and drop the stuffed animal. Let’s see if you can get all the stuffed animals from one side to the other by working together.

Play the game. Encourage the audience to cheer on the kids who are playing. The kids must work together as one team to accomplish the goal.

Co-Host

That was so much fun.! Let me hear you shout, “Choo-choo!”

Co-Host

Mia really loves her pillow. Do you have something that is your favorite?

Host

Let’s look at pictures of different things you might have at your house. We’ll ask some of you to tell us about your favorite.

Show the slides. Have the kids describe what kind of item is on the screen. With each slide, ask some of the kids to tell you what their favorite thing is from each category.

Host

Oh my, there are so many favorite things. Are any of those more important than your mommy or daddy? No, do you think that you should love any of those more than God? Our Big Point tells us who we should love the most. Let’s stand and practice the Big Point again,

Host

Love God The Most!

Co-Host

You can sit down on your pockets. What are some ways we show God we love Him? (Allow a few kids to answer)

Host

We show God love when we pray and talk to Him. Let’s put our hands together, like we’re praying.

Co-Host

You show that God is important when you read your Bible with your family. Let’s pretend to read a book.

Host

We show God love when we worship Him with songs. Let’s raise our hands and pretend we’re singing songs to Jesus.

Co-Host

There are lots of ways to show that God is the One you love the most.

Host

God is definitely more important than Mia’s pillow. Let’s see if our friends can help her discover what Conductor Carl’s clue means.

Engage 2Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2)

Host and Co-Host enter.

Co-Host

Mr. Rios was a big help to Mia. He reminded her who was the most important.

Host

It was neat to learn how to say “God” in a different language. God can hear us when we speak any language. We want to always follow our Big Point. Let’s say the Big Point again,

Host

Love God The Most!

Co-Host

I like the verse that Mr. Rios shared from the Bible. Deuteronomy 5:7 (NIrV) says, “Do not put any other gods in place of Me.”

Host

A long time ago, people used to worship statues. Statues are something carved of wood or stone to look like a person or animal. Some people thought those statues were more important than God. Would it be a wise choice to worship a statue?

Co-Host

No, it isn’t. Treating anything or anyone as more important than God is a wrong choice.

Host

Maybe a fun song about counting will help us remember that God is the most important. Let’s sing along with this video.

Sing along to the video with the kids. Have them point to the hearts as they count.

Co-Host

We want to keep Jesus as number one in our lives. Hold up one finger.

Host

We love Jesus the most because He is God, and He deserves to be loved more than anyone.

Co-Host

In just a moment we will hear a true story about some people who forgot that God is number one. But first let’s stand and worship God.

Big Story

Optional, play soft instrumental music.

Let’s take a moment to show God that we love Him the most. I have an idea. As we sing our next song to God, let’s sing with all our hearts and give God our very best attention and worship.

Engage 3Materials: Overalls (2), Train Hat (2), Handkerchief (2)

Host and Co-Host enter.

Co-Host

Mia learned a great lesson on who is the most important.

Host

I’m sure that she will follow the Big Point. Let’s all practice our Big Point again,

Host

Love God The Most!

Co-Host

The Israelites in our Big Story made a big mistake when they worshipped the cow, but we don’t have to be like them.

Host

We can be different. You can tell your family about what you learned about the Israelites when you do the Big Do this week.

Host

Take some time to worship God. You can listen to a song, watch a show about God, or read your Bible. That’s a good thing to do with your family.

Co-Host

I want to show you some pictures. Each time you see something, tell me if you should love that thing or God the most.

Show the pictures and have the kids respond with each one whether they should love it more than God.

Host

I think the Jr. Conductors are ready to follow our Big Point. Let’s say our Big Point once more,

Host

Love God The Most!

Big Review
  • Did our Big Point say Love God A Little or Love God The Most?

  • Pretend to take a nap and go to sleep. (Pretend to do that) Let’s fluff our pillow to make it extra comfy. (Pretend to fluff the pillow) Who thought her pillow was the most important? Mia Did Mia learn that loving her pillow the most is right or wrong? Wrong

  • I’m going to point to someone. When I point to you, sit in the middle of our group. But, when I point to someone else, you have to switch places in the middle. (Play the game) Deuteronomy 5:7 (NIrV): “Do not put any other (pets / gods) in place of me.”

  • Can you make the sound a cow makes? (Moo, like a cow) In our Big Story, who worshipped a statue that looked like a cow? Israelites Was God happy that they worshipped the statue? No

  • What did Conductor Carl tell us to do in the Big Do? Worship God as a family
