Large Group Instructions
Large Lego style blocks will work best for this Engage; however, you can also use simple Duplo style building blocks if larger ones are not available.

Host
Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I’m glad that you have come to visit Conductor Carl and his friends today.
Co-Host enters.
Co-Host
I’m here and ready to discover what the Bible says with the Jr. Conductors. I even brought something to help us.
Co-Host dumps out the box of Lego pieces. Host picks up some of the pieces.
Host
Why did you bring all these blocks? What do you do with them? (Pause) Let’s choose some friends to show us how to play with these. (To the audience) You guys can help us decide which color we should build with to make a tower.
Choose some kids to help demonstrate how to connect some of the blocks to make a tower.
Co-Host
They are really good at putting the Legos together. Look at the tall tower we created.
Host
That is an awesome tower, but why did you bring Lego pieces today?
Co-Host
We’re learning about being peaceful today, so I brought a box that’s full of pieces. It’s piece-full.
Host
Oh, thanks for helping, but that’s not the kind of peaceful we’re discovering today. Don’t worry; we’ll hear soon what the Bible says, that way we’ll all know what is true. Everyone, say, “Choo-choo!”
Host and Co-Host enter.

Engineer Courtney is afraid, so she had Professor Beaker make her a bubble suit. Do you think a bubble suit can protect her from anything bad that might happen?
Co-Host
Could a bubble suit help if someone runs into you? Say, “Crash!” You know, a bubble suit might help. Let’s pretend to sleep. (Close your eyes and snore) Could a bubble suit stop you from having a bad dream? I don’t think so. Let’s pretend to sneeze, like we’re sick. A-a-a-a-a-a-choo! Can the bubble suit stop Engineer Courtney from getting sick? No, I don’t think that it can.
Host
It can’t stop all bad things from happening. If Engineer Courtney wants help with feeling nervous, she should listen to and follow the Big Point. Let’s practice it together,
Host
Have a Peaceful Heart And Mind!
Co-Host
What does it mean to be peaceful?
Host
Jr. Conductors, let’s use our imaginations to help us understand. Can you help me?
Host
Imagine we are in the middle of a big storm. It’s raining really hard. Can you feel it? Tap your fingers across your arm to make it feel like raindrops falling. When it’s storming, what kinds of things do you see? (Allow for answers)
Co-Host
Yes, we see big, dark clouds. Thunder. Can you make a thunder sound? Lots of lightning. Is lightning bright? It sure is. When it storms, I want to hide under my blankets. Pretend to pull a blanket over your head.
Host
We do feel like that sometimes, but peace means that we choose to be calm, even when something scary happens.
Co-Host
How can we be calm if it’s scary?
Host
We can choose to be calm because we trust that God is with us and will help us, no matter what happens around us. The Holy Spirit grows good things inside of us, like peace. He helps us remember that God is there.
Co-Host
I’m calmer when I remember that I have the one and only big, strong God with me wherever I go. He’s there if I have a bad dream. He’s there during a storm. God’s there if I fall and scrape my knee. Because I know God is there, I can stay peaceful. Let’s see if Engineer Courtney learns that.
Host and Co-Host enter.
Co-Host
I think Engineer Courtney is learning that her bubble suit can’t protect her from all the bad things that might happen. Remembering the Big Point will help her trust Jesus and stay calm. Let’s say it again,
Co-Host
Have A Peaceful Heart And Mind!
Host
I’m glad that Mr. Rios was there to share the true things we learn from the Bible. Let’s check out today’s Big Verse.
Host
1 Peter 5:7 (NIrV) says, “Turn all your worries over to Him. He cares about you.”
Co-Host
Worries happen when we aren’t sure if everything will be okay and safe. Sometimes kids worry that when their parents drop them off at preschool, they might forget to come back. I’m glad they always do remember to come back and get their kids.
Host
Some kids worry that dogs might hurt them. Let’s bark like a dog. Ruff! Ruff! Sometimes we worry about the dark because we can’t see what is around us. Close your eyes tightly. Open them. Have you ever worried about having a bad dream? Put your hands together and lay on them, like a pillow.
Co-Host
The more we think about our worries, the less calm and peaceful we feel.
Host
Thinking about scary things does not give you a peaceful heart and mind. The Bible says that when we’re nervous we can give that worry to Jesus. I need a friend to help me up here on stage. Let’s pretend this friend has lots of worries. These balls are his/her worries.
Fill the child’s arms with balls.
Co-Host
The Bible says that it doesn’t help us to hold on to all of our worries. Instead, we want to give them to Jesus. Can you dump all those balls into the basket?
Dump the balls into the basket.
Host
Good job. Whenever you discover that you have more worries, just give them away. (Put a few more balls in the child’s arms and have him/her put them in the basket) An easy way to give them away is to pray and talk to Jesus. Ask Him to help you. Another way to give your concerns to God is praise Him. Let’s worship Him now!
Jr. Conductors, our Big Verse says that we can give all our worries to God because He cares for us. You can give God your worries by asking for His help. Think about something that makes you afraid. Quietly ask Jesus to help you. (Pause) Now I’ll pray for us all. (Pray) Thank you, God, that we don’t have to stay afraid because we can give our worries to You. Thank You for loving us and helping us. Amen. Let’s stand up and worship God.
Host and Co-Host enter.
Host
I’m glad that Engineer Courtney learned she doesn’t need that bubble suit. She can follow the Big Point. Let’s practice it again,
Host
Have a Peaceful Heart And Mind!
Co-Host
We can remember our Big Point this week when we do the Big Do with our family.
Host
This week’s Big Do is to have everyone in your family share something that makes them nervous. You can have your parents write down what you say on paper or you can draw a picture of it. Pray about your worries and ask Jesus to help.
Co-Host
After you pray, wad up the paper and play a game to see who can toss their paper in the trash. It will remind you to give those worries to Jesus.
Host
Let’s play that fun game now. I have some pieces of paper that are already wadded up. My friends are coming on stage to help us toss the paper into the trash can.
Co-Host
Let’s cheer and clap for our friends as they play.
Optional play game music. Play the game.
Host
Let’s say our Big Point.
Host
Have A Peaceful Heart And Mind!
Did our Big Point say Have A Scared Heart And Mind or Have A Peaceful Heart And Mind?
What could we do to help out a friend? A neighbor? Allow the kids to suggest ideas and pretend to do them. In our Big Story, what was the name of the man who helped lots of other Christians? Stephen
Pretend to pick up a heavy rock. Stand up and try to pick it up. Struggle to pick up the pretend rock. What did the mean guys do to Stephen? Threw rocks at him How did Stephen react? Was he peaceful or scared? Peaceful
Let’s imagine we are tossing different things. What is the silliest thing we could toss? Allow the kids to suggest silly items to toss. What does the Big Do say to do? Toss your worries into the trash
What does our Big Verse say? 1 Peter 5:7 (NIrV), “Turn all your (snacks / worries) over to Him. He cares about you.”
