These imaginative and engaging lessons will have your early childhood kids and volunteers loving every minute of their time at the Train Station. Most of us can probably appreciate a good plan. While we might not all enjoy sticking to a given plan, it’s hard to ignore the benefits. For those responsible for creating a particular plan there can be a lot of pressure… What have I overlooked? What are the factors beyond my control? What if the plan fails? Thankfully, in the grand scheme of things the ultimate plan is not riding on our shoulders. When we realize that our good God who knows everything has a master plan for this world, as well as individual roles for each of us to play, we can breathe a sigh of relief.  God’s got this, and He’s got me.  When we decide to become a friend and follower of Jesus and accept our assignments in His big plan, we embark on a grand adventure. He assures us that there will be twists and turns along the way, but we are never without hope and help. This is not only good news for us, but for the kids with whom we are connecting each week. Part of God’s big plan for us is to encourage kids to engage in His big plan. As we do we are helping kids discover and live out their God-given destinies, just like Joseph. Living life with hope, purpose, and intentionality is powerful and can actually change the world. When we dream big, give our best, listen to God, and are quick to forgive, we will find ourselves smack-dab in the middle of God’s Big Plan!

This message teaches individuals, particularly children, that by embracing their unique roles in God's grand plan, they can live with hope, purpose, and intentionality, ultimately impacting the world positively just like the biblical figure, Joseph.

Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! We are so glad that you visited us today at the Train Station. Jr. Conductors are helpful to have around when there’s a Big Point to discover.


The **Co-Host** juggles. You can use two or three juggling balls, depending on your comfort level.


**Co-Host**
Ta-da!

**Host**
Wow, you tossed them around at the same time. What is that called?

**Co-Host**
It’s called juggling. That’s when you toss several items in the air and catch them without dropping any. I’ve practiced juggling for a long time.

**Host**
Could you show the Jr. Conductors how to juggle?

**Co-Host**
Sure! Jr. Conductors, pretend that you are holding one ball. Toss it up in the air and catch it with other hand. Good job. Now pretend you are holding two. Toss them both in the air and catch them with the other hand like this.

**Host**
That was great. Can you try that again, Jr. Conductors? (Practice a couple of times) Maybe you could use your juggling, (**Co-Host**), to cheer up some kids in the hospital.

**Co-Host**
No, I’m not good enough to do that.

**Host**
Sure you are. You have something you could use in God’s big plan. Today we get to discover the gift that Joseph, in the Bible, used to help people. Let’s all say a big, “Choo-choo!”

Were you surprised to learn that Farmer Faith doesn’t think she has any gifts to share with other people? God has given her lots of good gifts. She needs to listen and believe the Big Point. Let’s practice it now,

What are gifts? Everyone has them? Even me and the Jr. Conductors?

**Host**
Sure, we all have gifts to use. The gifts we talk about in our Big Point are things 
that God gives us to share with other people. I’ll show you some pictures and we’ll talk about the gift we can share.





Show the following slides and explain the gift(s) that we can give using different parts of the body. Have the kids act out different gifts. Ask the kids if any of them like to use that gift. Feel free to add ideas of your own.

 - Mouth: Singing, talking about Jesus, teaching, encouraging

 - Hands: Building things, drawing, handshakes and hugs, cooking food

 - Feet: Sports, going to other places to help, dancing

Are those the only gifts people can share?

**Host**
No, there are many, many gifts God gives. Everyone has a gift that you can use to be God’s big helper.

**Co-Host**
I like knowing that God wants to use my gifts to help.

**Host**
Let’s help Farmer Faith learn about the gifts God has given her so she can help in His big plan, too.

That means she has something to use to help other people in God’s big plan.

The verse Inspector Nigel shared helped her believe the Big Point. 


**Co-Host**
 Corinthians 12:7 (NIrV), “The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all.” 


**Host**
That means God has good gifts for every person to use. They come from God. I’m going to show you what this means by having some musical fun. Do you like to play instruments? Let’s choose some friends to help show some instruments.




Choose kids to come on stage and hold the different instruments. You can choose any variety of instruments that you have access to.


**Co-Host**
Let’s see if we can name the different instruments and hear their sounds.


Show each instrument and have the kids name it and describe its sound.



**Host**
Each of these instruments are nice on their own, but when you use them all together you create a song. They sound so nice when you play them all at once. We’ll play them and have our friends pretend to play their instruments.


The volunteers can pretend to play along with the music.


**Co-Host**
Each instrument makes a special sound that works together with the other instruments to make a beautiful song. That’s like us. We use our gifts with everyone else’s gifts to be God’s big helpers. Let’s use our different voices to sing a song to God.


Big Story

When someone gives you a gift what two words do you say to them? (Pause) That’s right, you say “Thank you.” God has given each of us gifts to use in His big plan. Let’s take a moment to pray and thank God for His good gifts. You can tell Him thank you right there at your seat. Close your eyes and talk to Jesus for just a moment. (Pause) Now I’ll pray for all of us.

Everyone can be part of God’s big plan. I’m glad you helped her discover our Big Point,

Joseph wasn’t afraid to speak up and use the gifts God gave him. He told the king of Egypt the truth, and Joseph became an important leader.



**Host**
You can tell your family about how Joseph became a leader when you do the Big Do this week. Conductor Carl gave us a fun idea. 




**Host**
Talk to your family and think of someone that you can say an encouraging word to.

**Co-Host**
You could tell that person, “God loves you” or “God has a big plan for you.” You could encourage someone with a smile or a friendly wave.

**Host**
Let’s practice using our gifts to encourage our friends now. I’ll name someone, and I want you to look at them, smile, and wave. Then I’ll choose someone else.




Choose different people in the room to encourage. You can also give the kids simple encouraging things to say, etc.

Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! I’m glad you came to church today. Tonight we get to discover how God has given each one of us gifts that we can use in His big plan. Let’s all use our hands to wave, “Hello” to a friend sitting next to us. (Wave) Now let’s use our mouths to smile and make our friends feel welcome. (Smile) 

I wonder if Conductor Carl and his friends have gifts from God. Let’s go and find out! Everyone, give me a big, “Choo-choo!” 

“Choo-choo!” Let’s stand up and worship Jesus! 


Icebreaker

Jr. Conductors, let’s sing the song, “The Wheels On The Bus.” I’m going to give each small group a different part of the song. Then your small group will come up with a motion for that part of the song. When that part plays, you stand up and show everyone your motion. 



Assign each group a different part of the song. Small group leaders help your group come up with a motion that correlates with the part (wheels, wipers, doors, etc.). 


Alright everyone, let’s sing together! I’ll point to your group when it is time to stand up and show us your motion. 


Sing the song and direct the groups to stand up and do their motion when their part comes on.  


Good work! Everyone sang their part and the song was complete. I’m glad everyone got to have an important part. Let’s see what is going on at the Train Station today. Everyone, turn your listening ears on! 


Do you think it’s true that Farmer Faith doesn’t have any gifts to share? No, I 
don’t think so either. Our Big Point tells us the truth. Let’s sing it together,


**Use Your Gifts!**

God gives us gifts so that we can help others. Everyone think of something that you are good at. It could be drawing a picture, kicking a soccer ball, or singing a song. Now, on the count of three, tell me what it is! 1…2…3… (Allow for answers) Wow! Those are great gifts. In your small group, you get to have a talent show and show everyone what you just shouted out.  



Have the kids act out their different gifts.

Did Farmer Faith learn that God’s gifts are on the outside or on the inside of her? That’s right; they’re inside. All she has to do now is follow our Big Point. Let’s sing it together, 

**Use Your Gifts!**

Inspector Nigel shared a Bible verse with Farmer Faith to help her.  

1 Corinthians 12:7 (NIrV) says, “The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all.” God has given good gifts to every person. When we use them, we help the people around us. In your small group you will make up a story together and talk about ways people can use their gifts.



Using the felt board, help the kids come up with a story where the people use different gifts and abilities to help others.   


I’m thankful our Big Point is true and that we each have a gift to use. Let’s stand up and practice the Big Point while we pretend to play different instruments. First pretend to bang on a drum and say, **Use Your Gifts!** Now pretend to play a saxophone and say, **Use Your Gifts!** Everyone, pretend to strum a guitar and say, **Use Your Gifts!** Great job! You can have a seat on your pockets. 

We’ve been learning about Joseph the past few weeks. I wonder if Joseph had gifts to use. Everyone, turn your listening ears on and let’s find out!




Just like Joseph, you have gifts to use. Everyone, close your eyes and think of something you can do. Maybe you can sing a worship song, give a hug, or run really fast. Now let’s tell God, “Thank You” for that gift. Quietly say, “Dear God, thank You for my gift.” Now say, “In Jesus’ name, Amen.” Good job! Now let’s find out if Farmer Faith will get to use her gift. 



Closing

We all get to be a part of God’s big plan, even Farmer Faith! Joseph used the 
gifts God gave Him, and he became an important leader. You can tell your family about Joseph when you do the Big Do this week. 

Conductor Carl gave us the idea to talk to our family and think of someone you can say an encouraging word to. One encouraging thing to say is, “God loves you!” Can everyone say that with me right now? God loves you! You just followed our Big Point! Let’s sing it one last time,
