Host Welcome to the Train Station, Jr. Conductors! It’s almost Christmas. Who is excited for the big holiday?!

Co-Host Me, too. I’m very excited. I’m supposed to wrap some presents to give away to some of the other engineers at the train station, but I can’t seem to find the bow for my package. If you see it, can you tell me where it is?

(Co-Host turns around and reveal the bow on his/her back)

Host Do you see it, Jr. Conductors? Can you point to it?

Co-Host It’s where? Let me check.

(Turn around several times in an attempt to find it)

Host When you see it again, yell, “Stop!”

(Co-Host turns again to reveal it.)

Host Let’s help our friend find it.

(Move the Co-Host’s hand to point at his/her back.)

Co-Host There it is. You found it. Clap for yourselves because you helped me. I’m glad to have Jr. Conductors like you at the Train Station.

Host If you’re ready for a great day give me a “Choo-choo!”

Host What happened to Marty the sheep? (Pause) Engineer Courtney left the gate open and he ran away. Oh no, we need a sheep for our Christmas Train. I hope she finds him soon. We have lots to do to get ready.

Co-Host Conductor Carl gave us a big job. He asked us to decorate this Christmas tree so it can sit beside the hot cocoa. We have to hang all of these ornaments by ourselves. (Hang one or two ornaments) I just thought of something. Could our friends help us? (Pause) I agree. I think a friend could help. Are you guys our friends? (Pause) Oh, great! Maybe you can help.

(Choose some kids to come up one at a time and hang an ornament. Allow as many as time permits.)

Host The tree looks so much nicer. Thank you for your help. Sometimes a job is too big for you to tackle on your own. Christmas teaches us how Jesus came to help us with the most giant problem of all.

Co-Host It was a problem we couldn’t fix, but thankfully Jesus could. Let’s visit the Music Store again and practice today’s Big Point.

Co-Host Jesus Is Our Savior!

Host Did Engineer Courtney think that she had to find Marty all by herself? She sure did, and I’m glad that Engineer Kelly shared the Big Point with her. Now Engineer Courtney knows that we all need help, especially from Jesus. Let’s stand and say the Big Point.

Host Jesus Is Our Savior!

Co-Host The Bible is where we find our Big Point. Let’s read today’s Big Verse.

Co-Host Our Big Verse is found in Luke 2:11 (NIrV), “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you.” Who is that verse talking about? Jesus! He is our savior.

Host Do you know what it means to be a savior? It someone who saves someone else from a big problem. Who are some people who save us from big problems?

(List some different people like lifeguards, policeman, doctors, etc. Have them act out some aspects of each job.)

Co-Host I can think of someone who saves other people when they are in danger. They’re called firefighters.

Co-Host Let’s pretend to be firemen and firewomen and think about how they save others.

(Put on the firefighter costume. It can be a full costume or just a fireman’s hat. Lead the kids in acting out different things that firefighters do, such as climbing a tree to save a cat, using a hose to put out a fire, carrying someone to safety, applying a bandage to a hurt arm, etc.)

Host You can sit on your pockets. Firefighters are brave people, but even they couldn’t save us from our wrong choices. There is only one person who could help us. Who is it? Jesus! That’s why Christmas brings such great joy. Let’s stand and praise Jesus, our Savior, with a song.

  • Play: Slides - Big Story Slide

Aren’t you glad that Jesus came to save us? That’s such good news. When those guys watching the sheep heard the good news about Jesus, they told lots of people that Jesus had been born. We can do the same thing. Let’s practice telling a friend that Jesus came to save us. Turn to a friend and tell them, “Jesus is our Savior!” Turn to another friend and tell them, “Jesus is our Savior!” Good job. Be sure to tell everyone in your family, too! Let’s pray and thank Jesus for helping us. (Pray)

Co-Host Jesus came at Christmas to help us, and He hasn’t stopped helping us. Jesus still helps us every day. Let’s think of some ways that Jesus helps us.

  • Show the following slides. Help the kids identify the different ways that Jesus helps us daily, such as healing us when we’re sick, giving us peaceful sleep, joy, etc.

Host I’m glad that we get to be Jesus’ friends. He loves us all so much. Don’t forget our Big Point! Let’s say it together.
