Question of the Day: If you were Aladdin and found the Genie’s lamp, what would be your number one wish?

Music Suggested for Engage Segments Includes: "Game Show Theme Music"

WelcomeMaterials: Lab Coat, Game Show **Host** Costume, Large Box (3), Large Prize, Medium Prize, Gag Gift,), Small Prize

Play Game Show Music Host and Co-Host are on stage with a kid. The Co-Host is dressed as a classic game show Host.

Co-Host Welcome to everyone’s favorite game show, “Get Wisdom!” Let’s give a round of applause to our first contestant.

(Introduce the kid.)

Host We’re on a game show? I thought we were welcoming everyone to the lab.

Co-Host Nope, this is the game where contestants try to, let’s say it together,

Co-Host “Get Wisdom!”

Host That’s what we’re talking about today.

Co-Host Exactly! Because I’m going to offer you (the kid) an opportunity to find wisdom. I have a (Small prize) that you can take back to your seat. Or you could trade this prize in for one of the three prizes before you. Will you take what is in Box 1, Box 2, or Box 3? Maybe you need to get some wisdom by asking the audience which one they would pick.

Have three boxes with different prizes inside. One large prize, one medium prize, and one gag gift. Play this segment up like classic “Let’s Make a Deal!” Allow the kid to choose and reveal the other prizes.

Co-Host Great job! / Better luck next time. If you want to...

Co-Host “Get Wisdom,” then make sure to bring a studio audience with you wherever you go!

Host A studio audience might be helpful, but they can’t be depended upon for wisdom. Don’t worry, by the end of the day, you’ll know all about it. The good news is that the Bible is clear on where we do get wisdom. Stand to your feet and tell someone nearby which box you would have chosen. Let’s check in on Herman and Rusty.

Engage 1Materials: Lab Coat, Game Show **Host** Costume

Host and Co-Host enter.

Host Do you think Myers’ idea for the new TV show is a good idea for Rusty? Why not?

Co-Host He is going to be on TV. Isn’t that worth it? I’m trying to get on TV as a game show Host.

Host I don’t think so. In fact, money isn’t nearly as valuable as the subject of our new series, wisdom.

Co-Host I don’t recall many game shows giving away wisdom as a prize.

Host In Proverbs 3:14 (NIrV), the Bible says, “Wisdom pays better than silver does. She earns more than gold does.” Wisdom always beats silver or gold. In fact, that’s the subject of your next game. (Play Game Show Music)

Co-Host Oh right! I almost forgot. It’s time for another fabulous game on our game show, “Get Wisdom!” In this game we’re going to show you something that a celebrity actually purchased, and you get to guess how much they paid for it.

Doghouse for a Social Media Star’s Dog -$25 -$1,000 -$50,000 -$300,000

Solid Gold Bathtub for a Boxer -$10,000 -$100,000 -$500,000 -$2,000,000

Singer’s Humidifier -$200 -$2,000 -$20,000 -$2,000,000

A Dinosaur Bone for an Actor -$20,000 -$275,000 -$500,000 -$1,000,000

A Barbie Doll for a Singer’s Child -$10 -$500 -$15,000 -$80,000

Co-Host That’s not the wisest use of money. What do you guys think?

Host Money without wisdom is a disaster. Your life without wisdom is a disaster. That’s why we want to do what our Big Point says. Let’s choose an assistant to help us reveal it.

Host and Co-Host choose a kid to volunteer.

Co-Host After we count down from three, you can read the Big Point.

Co-Host Let’s all say it together, “Get Wisdom!” That’s a great name for a game show.

Host It’s also great advice. The Bible has a lot to say about wisdom. God wants us to be wise because doing things His way will lead you to good things. In fact, wisdom is the key tool to help you have a great year at school.

Co-Host Maybe Rusty will rethink this whole show idea. Let’s see.

Engage 2Materials: Lab Coat, Game Show **Host** Costume

Host and Co-Host enter.

Host Rusty seems to be going to full steam ahead with this show idea. Does it seem wise to star in a show based on throwing things at your face? I don’t think so, either.

Co-Host Sometimes we make those same kinds of ridiculous choices, like following a group of kids at school that you know are starting trouble. Thankfully you can make your year at school a winning year when you

Co-Host Get Wisdom!

Host Let’s check out our Big Verse for a clue on how to actually get wisdom.

Host and Co-Host choose a kid to volunteer.

Co-Host Proverbs 9:10 (NIrV) says, “If you want to become wise, you must begin by respecting the Lord.”

Host Respecting God is important. It’s basically acknowledging the truth that God is the smartest, greatest, most powerful, most kind and loving, and only God in the entire universe. If you think that anyone or anything beats God in any of these areas, then you’re not respecting Him. You’re being foolish, rather than wise.

Co-Host That will lead to disaster because you’re not believing and following what is true or using wisdom.

Host It makes sense to listen to and respect God. He’s the expert on wisdom, since, you know, He created it.

Co-Host That brings us to our next game on our game show,
(Play Game Show Music)

Co-Host “Get Wisdom!” In this game, you choose between this and that. Which person is the expert?

Traveling to the Moon: Neil Armstrong or The Actor Who Played Neil Armstrong

Acting: Neil Armstrong or The Actor Who Played Neil Armstrong

Frogs: Zoologist or Kermit the Frog Puppeteer

Puppetry: Zoologist or Kermit the Frog Puppeteer

Flying: Air Force Pilot or Superman Comic Book Artist

Drawing: Air Force Pilot or Superman Comic Book Artist

Host When you want to know about something, you go to the expert.

Co-Host God is the true expert when it comes to wisdom. If we want to get wisdom, we start by asking God for it.

Host James 1:5 says, “If any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He will give it to you.” God promises to give us wisdom if we ask. Wisdom begins with God. That’s a great reason to stand and worship.

Big Story

I’d like everyone to bow your heads and close your eyes. This is a time for you to be really honest with God. Have you been acting wisely or foolishly? Have you done things your way or God’s way? Talk to Him about that, and then ask God for the same thing that Solomon did: a wise and understanding heart. Pray and ask God to help you make good choices that honor God so you can do things His way. Take a moment to pray at your seat. (Pause) Now I want to pray for all of us that God will help us to walk wisely.

Engage 3Materials: Lab Coat, Game Show **Host** Costume, Building Items

Host and Co-Host enter.

Co-Host I’m glad that Rusty told Myers, “No.” It saved him from getting demolished.

Host He learned that there is something more valuable than money, and it’s found in our Big Point,

Host Get Wisdom!

Co-Host Our Big Story is a great reminder of why it’s a good idea to ask God for wisdom. That’s exactly what you’re going to do in this week’s Big Do.

Host Gather together as a family and have each person share one area where you need wisdom, then take turns asking God to give you wisdom.

Co-Host That’s important because wisdom is like the foundation of a great school year. No wisdom, and the building falls over. Get wisdom, and it stands tall. (Play Game Show Music) That’s our next game on our game show,

Co-Host “Get Wisdom!”

Host We have two teams on stage who are going to compete to build the tallest tower in 60 seconds. Make sure you build a good base for it to stand on or it might fall. Go!

Play the game using any building toys such as: Lego blocks, Magna-tiles, Cardboard Bricks, or 1’x1’ Cardboard boxes.

Co-Host Great job to our winners! I hope you’ve had a great time on “Get Wisdom!” Let’s turn and connect with our small groups and talk about what we’ve learned.
