"It's All About The Money" is suggested optional music for the Welcome and Engage sequences.

WelcomeMaterials: Lab Coat, Money Suit, Fake Money

Host enters

Host Welcome to the Lab! We’ve had a great time hearing from the Bible how we can be missionaries to our world.

(Play “It’s All About the Money”)

Co-Host enters. He/She is wearing a suit emblazoned with dollar bills and flashing a wad of fake cash.

Co-Host Am I impressive or what?

Host Depends on whether or not that is fake money.

Co-Host Yes, it’s fake, but it doesn’t matter, because this is going to help us teach the lesson.

Host I’m glad to see that you are ready to help, but I’m not sure that is necessary for what we’re going to discover in the lab.

Co-Host Trust me, it’s totally necessary. Buy yourself something nice.

(Play “It’s All About the Money”)

Co-Host stuffs some fake money in the Host’s lab coat and struts offstage.

Host I think he/she may be a bit confused, but the Bible will help clear things up. It's time to check in on Herman and Rusty bur before we do, tell someone nearby what you would buy if you had a million dollars.

Engage 1Materials: : Lab Coat, Money Suit, Fake Money, Button, Black Jumpsuit, Black Gloves

Host and Co-Host enter

Co-Host I think I am the perfect guy/gal to reveal the Big Point. I will choose an equally impressive assistant to help us reveal today’s Big Point.

Host and Co-Host choose a kid to volunteer.

Host After we count down from three, you can press that button and read the Big Point. 3…2…1!

Co-Host Let’s all say it together, I Can Give! Of course I can. I can give because I’m the Million Dollar Man/Woman.

(Play “It’s All About the Money”)

The Co-Host struts around stage.

Co-Host You could be the million-dollar kid. Do you have a million dollars?

Host You don’t have a million dollars either, and you don’t need a million dollars in order to give. Everyone can give something to missions.

Co-Host Why do you think it’s so important to give?

Host One day, Jesus taught a group of people on a mountain. He said that when you are generous, it brings light to your life, but when you are stingy, it brings darkness. I have a friend who is going to come out here. We’re going to turn the lights off, and I want you to tell me what he/she is doing.

(Bring out the volunteer dressed in black. Have him/her stand outside of any light and make a motion.)

Co-Host I have no idea what he/she did.

Host That’s because he/she was in darkness. Let’s keep the lights off, but this time we will shine a light on him/her.

(Have a light shine on the volunteer while he/she makes the motion. Encourage the kids to shout out what he/she is doing.)

Co-Host That was much easier to see.

Host The light helped. When we are generous with our time, our prayers, our gifts, and our love, it shines a light that other people can see. Jesus said that when our light shines, it helps people praise God.

Co-Host Giving helps us share Jesus, and those who give to missionaries get to enjoy the rewards of the work missionaries do for Jesus, too!

Host Yep, giving is a big part of missions. Let’s check out the story of some missionaries who gave a playground to some kids in Sierra Leone.

Engage 2Materials: Lab Coat, Money Suit, Button, Inflatable Pool, Blue Balloons

Host and Co-Host enter

Host Most, if not all, of those kids had never played on a real playground before that day. Look at the joy on their faces. That gift gave the missionaries a chance to share Jesus with them.

Co-Host The people who gave money to send that playground to Africa were part of that. They lived out the Big Point

Co-Host I Can Give!

Host Also, those who gave their time to go build it and the people who gave their prayers for the team played big parts in the work that was done. Let’s check out our Big Verse that talks about why we want giving to be part of what we do.

Host and Co-Host choose a kid to volunteer.

Co-Host Hit the button as we count down from three, and then you’ll read the verse. 3, 2, 1!

Allow the child to read the Big Verse.

Co-Host We can give because God has already blessed us with so much.

Host Let’s play a game to show what this means for us. I’m going to choose a team of kids. It’s your job to fill this pool with water, but by water I mean blue colored balloons. You have 30 seconds to fill the pool. Go!

(Give the kids a bag with only a couple of blue balloons in it.)

Co-Host That was an impossible task. You didn’t give them enough to fill it.

Host That’s the opposite of God. He gives us plenty of time and resources so that we can give. He doesn’t hold back, so we don’t have to hold back with our giving. Let’s try it again, and this time see if you can fill the pool with these balloons.

(Bring out more than enough balloons to fill the pool.)

Co-Host Great job on filling the pool. That makes me feel more confident to give.

Host We can all give because God gave to us first, and He has given to us freely. Jump on board and give. This is a great chance for you to be part of what God is doing to help people around the world.

Big Story

Instead of thinking that you can’t give, I want to challenge you to believe that God has already provided all you need to become a giver today. Let’s bow our heads and close our eyes. I want you to pray and ask God to show you one way you can give to someone else today. Don’t think you can give? Ask God to show you. He won’t let you down. Let’s pray. (Allow the kids to pray) If you thought of something that you could give, show me a thumbs up. I’m excited to see all of those hands because that means you heard God speak to you in your heart. Let’s commit to go do those things and believe that God will keep showing us how we can give. Bow your heads one more time as I pray for you. (Pray)

Engage 3Materials: Lab Coat, Money Suit, Scooter Board (2), Rope, Ball Pit Balls, Basket (2

Host and Co-Host enter

Co-Host God used Paul and Barnabas to give something really cool, healing. I also love how the team of missionaries in the video taught the leaders in Sierra Leone how to be children’s pastors.

Host That was giving, too. Giving can look different because God has different things He wants to do at different times. Be open to whatever way God wants to use you in missions. Let’s say The Big Point again,

Host I Can Give!

Co-Host Herman had a great idea for the Big Do this week, make a treat to share with someone else.

Host We can all give because God has given us what we need to be part of His plan. Let’s play a game that’s about giving more than receiving. We’ll choose two teams to play this game. One kid will get on a scooter board, and two kids who will push them and pull them back. When we say, “Go,” load the kid on the scooter board with these ball pit balls and launch them towards their basket.

Co-Host Try to land as many as possible into your basket. Then pull your partner back and load them up with more “gifts.” The team with the most in their basket wins. On your mark, get set, go!

Play the game.

Host Great job! Let’s gather in our small groups and discuss how we can give.

Small Group

Gather the kids into small groups and discuss the following.

  1. What’s the best gift you have ever given to someone?
  2. How did Paul and Barnabas give in the Big Story? Who gave them the power to heal that man?

  4. What did Herman tell us to do with our families in the Big Do? Make a treat to share with someone else.
