Host: Welcome to the Lab! Wait, why aren’t you wearing your lab coat?
Co-host: You know why. Today is the beginning of our new series…Aren’t you going to say its name?
Host: No.
Co-host: C’mon. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it.
Host: Fine! Welcome to our new series, All Aboard.
Co-host: ALL ABOARD!
The Co-host dances and places a lei on the Host.
Host: That’s right; we’re climbing “All Aboard” God’s big plan by giving. We’re going to discover why giving matters. Stand up and tell someone the number one place you would love to sail to and get ready to worship.
Host and Co-host enter. This engage uses a Gospel Illusion called a change bag. This can be purchased online from a number of illusion stores. It’s a simple bag that has a switch which changes between two pockets on the inside.Laflinmagicstore.com is a great source for illusion resources.
Co-host: I’m concerned about Rusty’s plan.
Host:: Why are Rusty, Ethel, and Slater worried? (Allow for answers) What do you think? Is it possible for them to give?
Co-host: I don’t think so. They have empty pockets.
Host: Actually, they aren’t completely empty.
Co-host: I forgot about the half-eaten Twizzler.
Host: No, they have something that everyone in this room has. We’ll discover that in our Big Point. We need a lab assistant to help us reveal it.
Host and Co-host choose a kid to volunteer.
Co-host: Press that button after we count down from three and then read the Big Point. 3…2…1!
Co-host Let’s all say it together, I Have Faith To Give! What does this mean?
Host It means you can make a commitment to give even before you have it in your pocket. Take this bag. Examine the inside.
Show the change bag.
Co-host Looks empty to me. What do you think? (To the kid) How can you promise to give when it’s empty?
Host Because you have faith. You trust that when you make a commitment to give what God puts in your heart to give, He will make it happen.
Switch the lever on the change bag. Pull out the hidden money. Dismiss the volunteer.
Co-host Wow! That makes me want to climb…
Host All aboard?
Co-host ALL ABOARD!
The Co-host dances offstage.
Host and Co-host enter.
Host Does anyone else think that Rusty is not a genuine genie?
Co-host He thinks he needs three wishes just to be able to give.
Host That’s not true. There’s one important ingredient found in our Big Point,
Host I Have Faith To Give! What’s the special ingredient? Faith! Let’s choose an assistant to help us reveal the Big Verse.
Host and Co-host choose a kid to volunteer.
Co-host This verse is going to help us understand faith a bit better. I need you to hit the button as we count down from three, and then you’ll read the verse. 3, 2, 1!
Allow the child to read the Big Verse.
Co-host Can you really live by believing? I always thought the idea was that you only believe what you see.
Host Let’s play a game to test something out. It’s called Battleship.
Co-host Which makes sense because I’m the captain. We need some Navy music.
Optional: Play "Anchors Away"
Host We’re going to choose different kids to pick where they launch the missile.
This slide contains a blank gameboard. Host and Co-host choose different kids to pick the spot and reveal if it’s a hit or miss. If it’s a hit, tell the kids it’s a hit and have the kids make an explosion noise. If it’s a miss, have the kids shout “miss.” An explosion graphic is included if using ProPresenter. This program allows graphics to be overlaid. Otherwise, just use the blank gameboard.
Co-host It’s hard to hit the battleship when you can’t see it. Doesn’t that prove my point?
Host Faith isn’t based on what we know. It’s based on God who…
Co-host Knows the plan.
Host Exactly. Now imagine you’re playing Battleship, but this is the gameboard.
Show the graphic with the ships displayed.
Co-host You’d score a hit every turn.
Host Living by faith means that we make decisions based on our trust in God. We believe He knows the plan, so we can do what God asks even before we see it. Let’s stand and worship God.
It’s not about what or how much you give. God doesn’t need our money, our stuff, or our time. He can make impossible things happen on His own. But God loves us so much that He wants us to be part of His big plan. It’s fun to get to be God’s partner. Even better, God also blesses us when we give. It’s just another way that our Heavenly Father is incredibly awesome. Let’s take a moment at our seats to talk to God. Ask Him to show you what He wants you to give. It might be giving extra time to help someone or sharing toys you have with less fortunate kids. Some of you may feel like God wants you to give extra offerings here at church. Whatever it is, trust God to help you give more than you ever thought possible. (Pause) Now I’ll pray over the whole group.
Host and Co-host enter.
Co-host I think praying is a way better choice than wishing on a plastic lamp.
Host I’m glad that Rusty, Ethel, and Slater are using our Big Point,
I Have Faith To Give!
Co-host Some kids don’t believe that they are capable of giving. Now, we all know that we can. I’m excited to use that faith to do the Big Do.
Co-host You guys will have fun filling up your jar with offerings that you can give.
Host On our own we might not be able to do that much, but our giving is based on what God can do. Trusting in Him can help you do things you never thought possible. I believe that you can fill that jar.
Co-host That gives me an idea. We should play a game that they play on cruise ships, limbo. How low can you go? Let’s see if you can go lower than you think.
Encourage the audience to cheer on the kids who participate. Use the energy of the room to get the kids to try to go low.
Host Great job! We can really give more than we thought possible when God is behind it.
Co-host Don’t forget our Big Point,
I Have Faith to Give!
Can we say it once more? ALL ABOARD! Let’s gather with our small groups.
Gather the kids into small groups and discuss the following.
- How did Rusty try to solve the problem of having nothing to give? Did it work? What was his mistake?
- How did Hannah use her faith? What did she offer to give God? What did God do?
- What should you do before you give anything? Since we know certain things are true: that God wants us to give, wants to heal us, wants to help us, how can we use our faith before we actually see it happen? Set the jar in a visible place & every time you see it, thank God for helping you give; instead of being afraid of sickness or covid, thank God that you are healthy & for healing your family/friends who are sick,…
